All I said I wanted to get was a tattoo of my favourite football club on my arm. She said like, "Well you could get a whole load of infections", So I said I'd go to a proper place and she can even check it out first if she wants then she was just like, "no you're not getting one, end of". Typical parent, impossible to get a straight answer out of her, (single parent), just like a politician!

Oh and I'm 17, 18 next July.

So... what's the big deal...? Is it one of those things that some parents get when they can't accept their kids are growing up? :P

I'm not some kind of little gangsta kid... I just like football, I don't go to matches and and start fights all the time, I've never actually been to a footy match, it's just something I like, like a hobby.

Also, it looks as if most of you don't know that you can actually them removed now... and I never said anything about putting names on myself, because I agree that is pretty stupid.

I'm not planning on getting it done in like, some guys back room, I will get it done properly, I'm not that stupid :P

I only ever want to get 3 tattoos, an England one, the football team one which I have purposely not brought up their name as not to attract the, "OMG OMG THEY R SO S**T" comments you get from those really kewl people ;)

and just a random graphic one across my should and/or back. nothing rude or offensive just some nice art.

I support myself, I wouldn't expect her to pay for something like that anyway.. I'm just not that kind of person. Money is not the problem here :P

I have been reading up on it though, where would the best place be to have an actual conversation with someone who knows all about it, like a doctor or something?

I don't go to the matches because I can't afford to go. No offence but some of the comments on here are so narrow minded it's unbelievable.

Why are parents right, 9/10 times? Do you know 9/10 parents and have reviews all of their actions to date? And as for the judging comments feel free to say what you want, because if you don't have the decency to put forward a respectable comment then I am really not bothered about what you think.

I absolutely disagree with the whole, "parents are right because they are parents" statement too, but without getting in to a whole other discussion to find out about what I think about things you still cannot judge me. I don't "walk all over my parents", I am a very respectful person.

I have been looking in to the health side of things though, to not do that would be totally irresponsible and negligent. Please don't think you 'know' me from one or two comments I have made, that is just naive.

My mum wouldn't let me get a tattoo until i was 18
Fair enough really
She was just worried because they are permanent and even though you think you will want something on your skin forever- you might not
I changed my mind hundreds of times before i finally decided on designs and if I had done it as soon as I had the idea I'd probably be walking around with ridiculous tattoos and saving up for laser surgery

Obviously you can get it done when you're 18 so if it means that much you will just have to do it and deal with the consequences
But if your mum is so against it, is it really worth the upset??
Do it in a few years when all this has died down- she'll never know (also gives you time to find a good tattooist and design)

I agree with your mum, yes i am a mum but also a mum with Tattoos and 20 years later I hate them and cannot afford to get rid of them, if you're serious about having some wait until you're of the right age, and I'm afraid if you live with your mum you should respect house rules, until you have your own own. And mum's 9/10 are right and want what's best for our kids, she's showing concern because she loves you and is protecting you, enjoy it not all kids get this love!!

Get a temporary tattoo that looks real.
If you are still interested in a temporary tatoo, wait till your 18, have your own job, house and car and live on your own.
Tatoos can cause health problems during the rest of your life besides looking cheap.
To get it off afterwards you will have to go through painfull operations and treatment.
Listen to your parents !
I´m glad I did !

A tattoo is a lasting mark on your body. What happens if you change who you support in the future? You also have to consider the fact that tattoos are still considered by some employers (wrongly) as being bad. I know of many venues that wont allow you access because you have a tattoo.

Because they love you more than anything else. A tattoo is for life and it's unfortunately true that the feelings you have now aren't.

It's true that a lot of tattoos are tasteful and look good but a football team?

Because mothers think sensibly. Look at how many people who have names of boyfriends/girlfriends on their arms and don't stay with them. I look at it like... I don't really want the same picture hanging on my wall till I'm 80. 'things' are fleeting. How do you know that this football team will be around when you're 80? besides, some gangs use the teams for gang signs. she may be fearing the worst.

They just don;t want you do something that you will look back on in later years and hate. I mean how many 80 year olds really look that great with big tatoos? It's also a generation thing. When my parents were young it was gangsters, criminals, dock workers and prisoners who had tatoos.. they still see them as common and not good enough for their kids. They seem to think it;s like branding yourself as common!

Parents have made mistakes in the past and don't want you to make mistakes your self.
I would think long and hard before getting a tattoo. Most people regret it and you can't get them removed without leaving a nasty scar.

Um I think you did get a straight answer, no, No was the answer! Obey your parent like the mindless slave you are! Or sneak out and get one anyway and have a fading stain of a crappy football team imbedded on your skin for life, its what I would do.

she only cares for u!!

no matter how clean the place is you are still open to infections!! i dont see the point of tatoos anyway...why would someone want to draw on their bodies permanently??? what if you change your mind about your favourite football team when your older?? and you're too young!! u have to be 18 to get one done on your own!!
