Mar 4:37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
Mar 4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
Mar 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Mar 4:40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
Mar 4:41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Very trues, Carly, my self-esteem is not based on anyone else's opinion.

Kriss, thank you, excellent.

Leesha, America is not totally wasted. There are certainly 50 righteous people. Look at AdoreHim's answer. Yes, your thoughts are true.

Jenny, what you have said is true...this is why we must vote! Thank you for the encouragement.

An Old Fashined Girl: Love your answer! Nehemiah prayed, then stood up and posted a guard. See Nehemiah 4:9-14. And Apostle Paul told us faith without works is dead.

Andrew W Peoples...very true...as it was in the days of Noah.

AdoreHim, I was torn between your answer and Martin S for Best Answer. Wish I could choose two!!

Not in society at large as is evidenced by some of the answers to your question.

Psalms 107:24 They saw the works of the LORD, his wonderful deeds in the deep. 25 For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves. 26 They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. 27 They reeled and staggered like drunken men; they were at their wits' end.

28 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. 30 They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. 31 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.

Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualitieshis eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools

No, there are very few who do respect God in todays society. Everywhere you look, you see people blasphemeing God. The world in general is NOT God fearing. There are very few christians out there. There are many who call themselves christians, but very few who are, if you know what I mean! Our society is going down. Sometimes it drives me crazy when people keep using the LORD"s name in vain, and say all matter of things about him. Without any thought as to the consequences. In movies you see HIM mocked as a commonplace thing. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said,"Jesus is coming soon, and boy is he mad!" There is a little bit of truth to that! I am not sure of the reference, but I was reading my bible the other day and fkound a verse that said something like this: "and every knee shall bow, and profess Him Lord." It is not exact, but close enough. Those atheists out there, who seem to have no problem closing the existence of God, they too will bow before the judgment seat of Christ some day. Remarkable thought!

Psalms 53:1

The Fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.

2 Peter3:3,4,5

3Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

It there any willing to serve God?

Ezekiel 22:30

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, and I found none.

Who will tell them if we don't?

Romans 10:14-15

14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

John 4:35 (King James Version)

35Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

Luke 10:2 (King James Version

2Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

The MOST we can do is pray!

Blessings!

I think that a "society" as a whole has lost some respect for God...or fail to place their fear in the correct place which leads to disrespect and dishonor toward Him. I think that there are many individuals who are respectful, but those of us who are are too few and/or too silent, and many Christians out there have become too accepting of not speaking loudly in fear of hurting or offending a person...yet fail to understand that by not speaking and standing up for what is right we are completely offending God! If God was truly the friend to us that He should be then He would be the first one we place fear and respect in.

Keep the faith! (2 Timothy 2:15-16)

God bless!

A very relevant question to today’s world, John, thought writing about it only grieves many of us who believe in God.

No, there is hardly any respect for God in today’s world. Even many of us who call themselves Christians can be better described as hypocrites: having neither the love nor the witness of Jesus in their hearts.

It saddens me extremely that for all the blessings and joys of this life (looking at the brighter side), we forget to thank our Heavenly Father. Rather we discredit His name. Why this hatred? Why, indeed, when those who say or do such things openly claim they do not believe in God! Who are they trying to instigate then??

For Jesus taught us in the Lord’s prayer:

Our Father, who art in heaven.
Hallowed by thy name.

For all the doubting and unbelieving folks here, and in this world there will always be at least one who shall point the way to God and to salvation through His son Jesus Christ... by the grace of our Lord.

Come what may, as for me and my family (if I ever have one :-) we will serve the Lord with gladness and a song in our hearts.

Peace,
Andrew

No, I don't believe there is and it is totally sad. America used to have some but with all of the liberals it has totally went down the drain. Just because the law makes things legal doesn't make it moral. Jesus has supremacy over ALL politcally correct policies and everyone will see this when Jesus comes back to get us.

not really since technology has surpassed what God a real Man can do by Himself. yes technology can also cause a voice to come out of seemingly nowhere, like God supposedly do. nano-radios.
and the lies told about Gods powers make it impossible for God to prove He's God. Everybody expects miracles or great power. And when God turns out to be just one of us, your all dissapointed and thus search for special effects like lights in which there is no darkness, etc...
just a militaries inventions. Jehovah and Jesus neither could perform actual wind taming, that was Israelite propaganda. When the Roman winds blew in and destroyed Israel, it proved God was at most a Man who had existed by was prone to the laws of physics just like everyone else.

numerology proves

The bible is full of lies=true
because using the principles below you see:

true=t+r+u+e=20+18+21+5=64=6+4=10=1+0=1
thus
The bible is full of lies=....=...=...=1
so
numerology proves that
the statements summed up to prove:

the bible is full of lies = true
so like other books it has some real life characters, some prophesies, and some lies.
taming the winds and the seas, lies.
there is a light in which there is no darkness, true.

a Man could be described by many words,

like shown in the link:

http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?fid=Sent&mid=1_2186_AGbFtEQAACOtR1RshgYjFnqZNBQ&pid=2&tnef=&YY=1196717471937&newid=1&clean=0&inline=1

so like the bible predicted there could be a God, DIO, Isten, and each word could be a different description of one person. But that makes the living God just a Man chosen by suppossedly long dead writters to be there leader.

But in real life even thou i fit the 13 nations/languages word for God, nobody actually obeys of worships Me. Shaka Zulu got more worship and respect then Me. Mainly because you all probably hate God. When has he ever really answered your prayers? never. Why does He allow bad rulers? because you haven't given Him an army to despose of them. And a living God today will face stiff opposistion from the present day rulers (who i know in my heart don't beleive in a God outside of the Military)

just from reading some of the questions and answers here, it is very obvious there is not much respect for God or the things of God- I am not saying everyone here does not love and respects God, but.......... One way to for God to be respected more in today's society is for those who do claim to know Him remember this-
"We may be the Jesus that someone sees"
and "IF my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from our wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven , forgive them sins, and heal their land.

Revival starts with those of us who know Christ!!!!!!!!

Cute story. My favorite fiction is Catch-22.

If God wants my respect, he has to earn it. For starters he can show that he really exists and isn't just a fairy tale.

A God? Yes.
People that are blindly following a literal story that is meant to be allegorical, and that spread fear by calling it faith, and that have no independent views? No.
