I am having a Christmas party with a handful of my coworkers-maybe 20 or so-and need ideas for fun games to keep the night interesting. We work in the ER and are mostly in our 30's, young couples, maybe a small child or 2 also. I am hosting the party at a hotel-the presidential suite-and my hubby will be cooking. Should I go with a full meal or several appetizers? The hotel is located right on the beach in Hawaii, so maybe MaiTai's at the pool before hand? Thanks in advance.

you need something separate and fun for the kids to do like parcel the parcel to carols or meeting Santa. If you want the kids there then try karaoke to carols or charades. Then later on let loose and do other adult fun things.

If you search for bowtie christmas party games on google or yahoo you should get to a bowtieproducts site that will give you 4 new original games that will help make your nite fun.

Some of the games especially Sandys Christmas Carol game can be adjusted for nearly any age 8 and up.

For parties mixers like this work because they give folks something to do while they get warmed up to each other. if they want to talk, they can talk, but if conversatrion lags games like these take up the awkward silences that many of us dread.

Whats nice is that people don't all have to be in it to enjoy it. Some can just help out if asked or enjoy the groans of the answer section.

If links work in the answer blocks here's the link

there is also some party giving advice you may enjoy.

My wife and I made up the puzzles and many people really enjoy them.

I hope they work out well for you

I would go with appetizers, and everyone knows how to play bingo.
And why not play something silly like Pin the tail on the donkey. It is always fun to watch a grown person spinning around with a blindfold after a few drinks.

Lucky you, sounds like a beautiful party in the making. A treasure hunt could be fun if you feel up to planning and organizing. Hide clues on pieces of paper each leading to the next clue and ending up with a treasure for everyone to share(could be dessert) back in your suite. You have to think of places to hide the clues and make sure the hunt goes in sequence. In a hotel, you would have to all hunt together. You read the first clue and then let people hunt for the next one. For example, read the first clue-
"I'm taped to the side of a place that is cold
Come see me if your drink is warm or old"
The next clue would be taped to the side of an ice machine somewhere on one of the floors of the hotel.(You would have to put it on a side the public wouldn't see and discard.)
The next clue might say-
"People come to me when they want calories to burn
I don't mind, they can each take a turn" -Hint would be somewhere in the work-out room.

Takes some planning, but could really be fun. We do this in our home for special gifts, occasions and have people running all over inside and out.
As for food-have appetizers or buffet style food and drinks available in your suite.

Try this game. It's really fun to play with grown-ups and kids alike. You can set your own gift amount limit. We love this game.

Merry Christmas!

PS. Hats off to you and your staff. Not everyone has the strength to do what you do.
