so I've recently been checking ingredients in certain foods and i have found out that a lot of foods contain animal products in them.

do you know of any other product i should watch out for/avoid?

Yes, there are PLENTY you need to watch out for. Anything that has gelatine (commercial yogurt, ice cream. pop tarts, many icings, jello, puddings, etc) have gelatine, which is made from the boiled bones, skin, ligaments and tendons of slaughtered animals. Anything with "natural" flavors or "natural" colors are usually animal sources, and most processed, prepackaged, or fast foods have dead animal sources in them. Also watch for red food color, or caramel color, or "natural" colors. Red food coloring is made from crushed cochineal beatles (google "carmine" for details). Pretty much any ingredient that can't be pronounced is animal sourced. Yet another reason I eat organic, homegrown, and made from scratch foods! Dead animal parts are also in most cosmetics, household cleansers, etc. We are surrounded by them.

A lot of products contain chicken stock or beef stock, even some frozen meals that you wouldn't think about. When I buy something new I always check the ingredients to see if there is any animal by products. Most soups are out because the contain chicken broth. You'll just have to be a major label reader. Also watch out for some refried beans. Most of them contain lard, but there are vegetarian ones available. It's tricky at restaurants because sometimes they aren't sure about all of the ingredients. MCDs have been open about thier food not being veggie. They haven't "LIED" to us.

In July they released a press notice saying no food there was veggie, and its on thier website:

The disclaimer on the McDonald's website reads: "No products are certified as vegetarian; all products may contain trace amounts of ingredients derived from animals." Stated in another way on its FAQ page, McDonald's states that "McDonald's does not represent any of our foods as being vegetarian. However, we gladly accommodate customer requests to custom-order items without meat (i.e., without beef, pork, chicken or fish). Note that even though we provide the flexibility to order items without meat, we cannot guarantee that during preparation the item does not come into contact with meat or poultry."

notice they say "ALL PRODUCTS" may contain dead animals. Yep, they will not even guarantee the tomatoes.

Personally I don't eat there at all but the disturbing thing to me is that my nephew has a gluten intolorance and is Autistic. His body breaks wheat gluten down into an opiat but can't further break it down into an amino acid. He has some seriously outrageous episodes if he eats gluten. McDonalds has told us before that there are no wheat contents in the fries or oil the fries are cooked in. My brother and sister-in-law as well as my parents get him fries as a reward a lot of the time. I'm so glad you shared this.

What makes you think you have been lied to? None of these products say anywhere on them that they are anything special "vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, wheat-free, etc." If you were being lied to then the products would have had special labels. If you're that worried about it then stick to "vegetarian" foods or read your labels better. Besides the stuff you listed is highly processed junk that you shouldn't be eating anyway. If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it.

that's a meaningless journey. that would not recommend it won't be able to be a exciting, gratifying, and appealing journey. yet while love is interior the mixture, the actual stuff is a organic expression and extension of the emotional love. It turns into much less with reference to the strictly actual and turns into an extremely profound and emotional journey.

Make your own food at home from scratch, it's usually better for your health, and tastes better too. Some you may not realize are things with gelatin in them, for example, marshmallows, gummy bears, jello, etc. Just in case you didn't know. And of course McDonald's, it's one of, if not the most disgusting fast food places out there.

lol. Old news.

Learn the names of more obscure animal derived ingredients or possibly animal derived ingredients, and learn to read labels.


iam: Miniwheats are fine. FROSTED miniwheats have gelatin. Organic frosted miniwheats do not. Regular poptarts have gelatin. Unfrosted ones do not (except for the marshmallow smores ones, i believe).

Like baserunner316 and many other nutritionists regarded meat is still the highest source of protein.

I do not know whether our body designed to acquire excess of protein daily. I also do not know how much calorie of protein I need. Because many people thought their body require excess of protein, and meat is the best source. (No doubt they did not aware that meat do more harm that good)

I feel disappointed to see there are still people speaking likewise 20 years ago.
