It's tough to keep to a testing and eating schedule (although I DO try and keep fruit and small snacks with me) while I am travelling by plane. What do YOU folks do - any tips to share?

Thanks!

Edit: I AM on a small dose of fast-acting insulin before meals and one dose of longer-acting insulin at night.

My mother has a small hand-held tester that she keeps with her. Considering that her work is demanding, it has been a huge help. She also keeps a small bag of almonds to help stabilize her blood sugar.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Tripping is what I do, but in a truck rather than flying.

You have the glucometer, it isn't a problem to test about 3 or 4 times a day. I am on insulins as well as orals and very strict food plan. I must test before and after meals to see if I need more fast insulin than I took before eating.

Yes, I even inject in nice restaurants with no funny looks from anyone. I don't think they even notice what I am doing!!

Just get on a testing schedule and change your food plan to one of the low carb plans. They are NOT high fat or high protein!! They are sufficient to keep the bod running.

Learn to demand the kitchens change the plate for you when dining out. They will if they want you back and not on the ethernet dissing them by name! (BTW: Don't eat at any of the ______ _________ because they won't change all the heavy carbs off the plate!)

I have no problems requesting that they not put any rice, potatoes, carrots, peas, frijoles, corn, etc on my plate. Ask for additional salad as in tomatoes.

I carry a very heavy purse with me at all times. It always has a couple of apples, some peppermint stick candy, a bottle of water and a couple of packages of Quaker Breakfast on the Go bars in it as well as my glucometer and ice pack with insulins.

It is my understanding that you can put food in gallon ziplock bags, but have to buy your drinks after checking through security at airports.

I'm a type two and don't have any of those problems. As long as I'm consistent with my diet, I don't have to test regularly. I've never had a hypoglycemic episode, so I don't need to take snacks with me. I can go a whole day without food and my blood glucose remains stable.

You didn't mention if you're insulin dependent or not. If you are, then any tips I give you are useless. If you aren't insulin dependent, then get on a low carb, low fat diet, exercise as much as you can (at least 30-60 minutes a day), lose any excess weight, and take a few supplements (see my diabetes info link for more). That way, you won't have to test all the time.

counting on what drugs your sister is taking, form 2's oftentimes don't be afflicted by hypoglycemia. notwithstanding, there are some drugs (Byetta) and a pair others that could reason her blood sugar to bypass slightly low. in the experience that your sister desires arranged snacks, i might chosen one with some carbohydrates and protein to maintain her sugar up for awhile till she would be in a position to have a meal. Crackers and peanut butter or cheese is available prepackaged and this may well be a great snack. If she basically desires a rapid restoration, I carry Starbursts. they are for my area wrapped and flavor extra applicable than glucose tabs. they seem to be a soreness to unwrap, so which you do no longer consume to many. One starburst will enhance my blood sugar approximately 10 factors.

I take a small kilometer in my brief case. If I feel like out of range, I test and then take my meals. I keep some hard candy with me in case of hypoglycemia. I also keep metformin with me in case of hyperglycemia.

i'm a t-2 and i rarely ever check my blood unless i've gotten sick (flu or cold) knowing your limits and self-disipline as far as what you should and shouldn't eat or drink enable me as a t-2 to keep things under control, it's hard and you never totaly get rid of craveings but look at what happens to people who can't or don't get a grip on it .it might sound mean but use them and thier problems to inspire you to not end up like them.
