Alcohol is cardio-toxic, it is among the many side effects of drinking to excess, it damages the heart and may destabilise the conducting system, so it is is fortunate you have stopped. it is particularly unfortunate to drink heavily from an early age as it is pretty much bound to catch up with you if you don't stop.
On the other side almost everyone has some extra beats or ectopics at some time and most are harmless. The fact that your tests so far are normal is very reassuring and your 24 hour monitor may also fail to show anything important is happening.
Take this as a warning however and for your own sake try and either keep off the drink or drink sensibly for the rest of your life!

Don't worry , you are doing the right thing getting a holter monitor. This will help rule out anything serious.
It is not uncommon to have these extra systoles and they can occur in perfectly healthy hearts.
People often notice them more when they are a bit anxious.
Best of luck, it's most likely you will get the all clear.

yes, extra heart beats aren't even considered dangerous anymore! They used to be considered , but not today. It turns out that its fairly common in most people . I think you may be noticing it more, now that your body is not under alcohol's depressant influence. Alcohol acts as a "depressant" to the body and brain. It could have "depressed" or stopped the extra heart beats , or maybe you just never felt them, while under alcohol's influence. Now you are sobered up, you are now aware of them. Many , many people have "skipped " beats, it sure is an icky feeling though! You will be fine! Grats on your sobriety!

These are called extra-systoles.
I experienced my first one at age 19 while sitting in my local pub at lunchtime. I was a spirit drinker then, and I was frightened about it.
Like you, I had all the tests and there was nothing abnormal. I am now 61, still get them from time to time and I stick to lager or cider.
I am not condoning drinking, all I am saying is that extra-systoles, although at first alarming, are not necessarily a cause for concern if the medics tell you that you are healthy.

Benign (harmless) Ectopic Heartbeats are very common and most people who get them don't notice them. Try cutting out all caffeinated drinks - this may help.
