i got a tattoo 3 yrs ago and i remember the lady that did mine said that all the equipment is completely sterile and that they use a new needle on every person..but i also remember a contract they gave me to sign before getting inked that said that there are chances of catching an std from getting a tattoo and that they arent responsible for whatever happens to me.wasnt thinking about this until NOW..if they were so sure there equipment is safe to be used then what was the purpose of having to sign that paper.??

It's simple.
someone gets a tattoo, gets aids elsewhere, says it must have been the tattoo, and sues that tattoo shop.
the waiver is necessary. however the likelyhood of you catching anything is slim to none. they really are sterile in most places. and needles are NEVER reused.

There are NO guarantees, never......HIV is spread through bodily fluids. Tattoo machines can pick up blood as it pierces the skin. If the equipment doesn't get sterilized properly the HIV can still be on the equipment. Hep B virus lives longer than HIV virus .....

In most states tattoo parlors are inspected and licensed, and most know enough to use new, sterile needles.
But pardon my bias, but the people who operate and run these shops don't look like pillars of society to me. My trust in them to adhere to the letter of the law is a leap of faith.

Unless she was lying to you there's no way you could have gotten AIDS. What is dangerous is people who do homemade tattoos and share needles - don't EVER do that!
