Well, it all depends. The stuff served in the western countries is prepared in a way that suits the local people more and those dishes taste nothing like the originals in China. And there's more to it than just rice, noodles, soups, chicken and chilli. I love the real stuff, don't care much about the westernized Chinese cuisine. If you want spicy try Sichuan cuisine (main dishes shui zhu yu - spicy boiled fish, gong bao ji ding - spicy chicken with peanuts, yu xiang rou si - beef with bamboo, hui guo rou - beef with capsicums), if you want light try Cantonese cuisine (dim sum, soups, crabs, noodles and such). If you want to try some really weird tasting dishes, the best idea is to go to China - smaller towns in less developed provinces - and try the local foods. You'd be surprised how much it differs from the 'box of chao fan' you get from Mr. Wang at the local chain restaurant... :)

Someone from China once told me that the food they sell over here as "Chinese" isn't like real chinese food. Which makes perfect sense... If you eat "Chinese" food all the time, you would probably put on weight, but have you noticed that most Chinese people are not fat? They eat differently over there. I'm interested in having some REAL Chinese food.

I enjoy it, but am getting somewhat tired of it. When I moved to Maine twenty years ago, I had to travel thirty miles for a Chinese restaurant. Now they are everywhere and some are quite as good as any I've ever found in the big cities. But now I'm more into Thai food.

I love the food at a Chinese restaurant, but I'm not sure it is really Chinese. Good stuff, though

Fast food chinese food or buffets are very yummy but not great, not too healthy, very high in sodium, fat, and calories. However, authentic chinese food is good for you. They don't load it up with as much salt and sauces, you can actually taste the food. I prefer janpanese food, it seems much cleaner and healthier.

I love it. Would gladly eat it everyday. The only thing is that...where I live in NC (originally from MD), alot of chinese cuisine has been americanized. I did find this great schezuan restaurant in a neighboring town and their food is fresh and authentic.

What we eat in the USA bears little resemblance to Chinese food. We load the dishes with protein in the form of meat and seafoods which most Oriental people could never afford. That said, I love it.

LOVE IT/HATE IT
Love, because it tastes so good.
Hate, because alot of its fattening and in about 4 hours or so your hungry again, like you never ate anything earlier.

thanks alot, I didn't really want too but now that you've put the Chinese food thing in my head I'll have to go eat some!

It can be a great way to eat a lot of steamed vegetables and enjoy great tasting food. To eat healthy avoid the fried foods and syrupy sauces instead go for items stir fried with healthy oils.
