I have many vegan friends who refuse to support Ozzy Osbourne because he bit the head off of a bat at one of his shows, a dove at a meeting, and has killed over 20 of his animals in a drug induced rage.

They also hate Ted Nugent because he promotes hunting and Alice Cooper for sluaghtering pigeons during his shows.

Is this common for most vegan/vegeterians. Do you also refuse to listen to them because of their animal treatments?

No, I refuse to listen to them because it's crappy music.

However, I wouldn't mind hearing some of Alice Cooper's early recordings again or to see some film clips of concerts from that time--he first became a star when I was in Junior High and I might enjoy the memories of that.

I could be wrong, but I'm not sure if Alice ever intentionally killed animals in his shows. There was one incident where a chicken wandered up on stage, Alice threw the chicken into the audience and they tore it to pieces. Alice later apologized and said "I'm not from the country and I didn't know chickens couldn't fly." Maybe that was just a lame excuse, but I guess I'll give him the benefit of a doubt unless I have solid evidence that he really killed animals. There were a lot of bizarre rumors about him in the 70s that turned out to not be true. For example, it was rumored that Alice Cooper used to be either Jerry Mathers (Beaver Cleaver) or Ken Osmond (Eddie Haskell) from the Leave It To Beaver Show.

I'm not a big Alice Cooper fan per se, but he was very popular when I was young and I thought his staged hangings and stuff were a real hoot.

Ha: I remember that rumor about Alice eating poop; then I heard the same rumor about Frank Zappa.

I am not a vegan, actually can't imagine living that lifestyle, but each to his/her own.

Now Ozzie did bite the head off of a bat, but he thought it was rubber. A fan threw him a bat, and Ozzie bite the head off. Ozzie then had to have rabies shots. I would think Ozzie got the worse part of that deal. Think about it, would Sharon be with Ozzie so many years if it was cruel to animals?

The rest is just urban legend. See the site below.

"Hate" isn't the word to use - because Veganism is about positive living(and thinking).

Ozzy - the truth: Someone in the audience threw a rubber bat on stage. Ozzy bit the head off, knowing it wasn't real. Some people in the audience(all of which were intoxocated) thought it was real.

Ted Nugent - I'm more bothered by his political thoughts than by hunting(which is less abusive than buying from a factory farm).

I do buy from musicians that eat meat. Music is where I draw the line. I don't think my $ would have any effect anyway.

I think so many people hated him just because of his personality. I'd be willing to guess that the stress of performing live every night for nine, maybe ten months of the year will eventually take its toll on your mind. Maybe the fact that his parents beat him changed him. Ask yourself this question: if you had no friends; everybody hated you; your parents beat you; and you had to deal with a very famous and popular band, would you be a ray of sunshine all the time? Especially if people were sending you hate mail and talking smack about you in magazines or behind your back. I doubt it.

I think the killing animals on stage was a urban legend. I have never known anyone who went to their concerts that saw such a thing. Now, Nugent is a huge big game hunter. I know I wouldn't want to mess with him. That man is nuts! I have also heard rumors that Cooper used to eat sh*t on stage, not true.

Well I don't know if those rumours are true but when it comes to people who hunt, I wouldn't 'hate' anyone for hunting, just like I wouldn't hate anyone for eating meat. I can disagree with their actions but that doesn't mean I should hate them as people.
