Well you should have done your homework on Chalk it is a "rock" of sorts and in no way threatens animals any more than burning cow fecal matter for cook stoves:
Chalk (pronounced /ËtÊÉËk/) is a soft, white, porous sedimentary rock, a form of limestone composed of the mineral calcite. It forms under relatively deep marine conditions from the gradual accumulation of minute calcite plates (coccoliths) shed from micro-organisms called coccolithophores. It is common to find flint and chert nodules embedded in chalk.
Your lifestyle cannot and should not be dictated by your neighbor. You have your own boundaries if thy believe that all animal by products are to be avoided then I hope they are naturalists since most of our cloth is contaminated by animal and insects, heck even walking on the beach you are walking on the desiccated bodies of untold coruscation's - where do YOU draw the line? That is the real question. If you are a vegan and it works for you then you can continue on your own terms. You would only be immoral if you did something that violated your own morality concerning Veganisim. If you think that using the waste products of animals and insects is immoral then you and only you can make that choice. Your friend is trying to impose their own choices on you that is not a friend. I hope you find the boundaries that work for you and are not manipulated by this "friend" any further. Good Luck!

I had no idea that chalk was made from animal products.
You should not have become a vegetarian because of your neighbor. That is a decision that you should have made based upon your own thoughts.

Animals are animals. Tell your friend that every time she eats Jello, she's eating animal by-products. Weird, but true.
When the lions start giving the antelope their rights, I'll consider giving animals rights.
Animals should not be cruelly tortured, they should be slaughtered in as humane a manner as possible. That said, the human body is designed to digest meat as well as vegetables.
Dogs eat meat only. Rabbits eat vegetables only. Bears, however, eat both, and so do humans.
And your neighbor is a real nut-case.

You shouldnt stop being a vegan if you really believe in it and believe its the right lifestyle to have. Dont stay vegan if its not what you want. And tell your neighbor to mind her own business. Its your kid and you'll raise her however you want.

Tell your neighbor to stop breathing, because every time she does, she's inhaling and killing little tiny microorganisms.
Tell her to stop walking, because every time she does, she's killing little tiny organisms.
Does she have any wooden furniture in her house ... those were live trees at one time.
Well, I think you get the message. Tell her to lighten up - there's no way humanly possible to be on this earth and not destroy something that was once alive.
