It's not only possible, many people do it... for days. It's called fasting. In some ways, it can be quite cleansing. However, I honestly don't think resting the organs is so much a matter of how many times a day you eat, I think it's a matter of what you eat and how much of it. It's pretty well known that several small meals a day are far better for you than two or three large ones.

Oh, and to the "nurse"... I've fasted for over a day with no hypoglycemia or any other symptoms (besides hunger). My glucagon, glycogen, and liver work just fine, thank you. I would never recommend it for a type one or an out of control type two, but it is certainly possible.

The only organ that rests is your brain. It attempts to protect itself from an inadequate amount of glucose by limiting brain activities. So a person typically becomes lethargic.

Its not a good idea to consistently eat one meal per day - it actually stresses the organs because the blood glucose levels cover too large a range. Most of the other organs have to work overtime to compensate for extreme changes in blood glucose levels. Occasional fasting (once a week) is a much healthier option.

I have no qualifications for this answer - its just my understanding of human physiology.

Yes, it is. The organs, though, don't need rest. They do their jobs 24/7.
Credentials: Eating meals for 49 years.

I'm not sure what you mean by "rest the organs" there are times when you need to eat lighter or lighter foods for instance when you have the flu, they recommend eating broth and dry toast. For the simple reason of getting SOME nutrition and it's easier on your stomach to digest in hopes that you can "keep" it down.

As far as eating one time a day for a healthy person, no it's not good. That is normally not enough nutrition to sustain a person through daily activities, nor does it help maintain sugar levels.

Of course it's possible to eat one meal a day. I do this myself. It doesn't "rest the organs", where did you get that idea? However, since you've posted this question in the Diabetes category, I'd advise any diabetic not to practice this habit as it will drop serum glucose perhaps to critical levels.

It is possible, but not healthy. You should eat something every 3 hours. Do not go longer than 4. Not large amounts of course. You should exercise true portion control. Going too long between snacks/meals your body goes in to starvation mode & slows down your metabolism.

It's not wise to do so, I don't think you can eat enough vitamins in one meal. I mean 5-10 servings of fruit or vegetables in one meal not including dairy products, meat and whole wheat?

It's possible, but not wise, especially if you are diabetic! You should really follow the advice of a nutritionist.

I have no credentials for this topic, only my common sense. =)
