Nits prefer clean hair - this is a fact!

NITS PREFER CLEAN HAIR! Now don't get me wrong, they can still hop onto to a dirty head, but they just die there because they can't move around through all the oil and product and whatnot. So therefore they cannot procreate and cause a lice infestation. It's like a mouse on a glue trap, a glue trap's won't keep mice out of your house, but once they are there, they will get stuck and die.

Usually dirty hair, don't understand why, gives the nits something to hand onto I suppose, if hair was clean I suppose they would slide off.

lice prefer clean hair, coz it is difficult for them to move through greasy hair, and the nits (eggs) dont stick as well in dirty hair as they do in clean hair.

They're not fussy. Its a total myth that they would turn down yukky hair in favour of some nice clean stuff. They live off blood and dead skin so whether your hair smells of flowers or rancid butter, they really couldn't care.

nits cannot cling as well to greasy hair, its easier to get them out too.
Nits have no preference.

I think it is time that teachers started to ask children to keep their heads apart and to discourage huddled groups as this is how nits are spread.
