Is it possible to enlist or re-enlist in the Army with Genital Herpes. Or do they even do blood test for this. I know they test for HIV and Aids but do they or will they test for Herpes.
This is a serious question.

When it comes to Re-enlisment..No you are not tested for anything. As for enlistment you are tested for EVERYTHING....if it is something that is treatable then you may have to sign a waiver to get in but it is unlikely that they will take you. It all depends on who and where you are signing in...as well as what your MOS will be.

Enlistment and re-enlistment are two different things.
First the Enlistment:
If you have genital herpes and would like to join the military, then it is possible. It will be noted in your medical record that you do have this condition for future treatment and possible disability benefits, but should not bar you from entry.
Now for re-enlistment:
If you contracted genital herpes while on active duty, you cannot be discharged or refused re-enlistment unless you contracted this disease while commiting a felony. The medical condition (and that is what it is) will be noted in your medical and dental records one for treatment and disability and two for the safety of the doctors, nurses, corpsmen, medics and anybody else that is working in the medical and dental fields.

If you want to join the military, then don't let this stop you. If you want to re-enlist then please inform the medical and dental personnel so they can take the necessary precautions to protect themselves.

Best of luck too you.

Oh my god that is funny, a waiver for herpes?

If you have an STD such as herpes, you are fine and of no risk to your re enlistment or enlistment. It will just be placed on your 2-1 and med file.

Man if you needed a waiver just about every GI that came back from Korea in the last 30 years would be kicked out!!! :)

Not too my knowledge. You'll feel out a health assement & it's up to you if ya wanna be str8 up or lie.Of course they're gonna run a whole lot of test. But I really don't think that's included. People get in the army with far worst medical condtions & actually there are a lot of soldiers with this dieases & it's very easy to maintain with the proper meds & live a normal life.

You do not need a waiver for herpes.....if you did, three fourths of the population would need a waiver....I think the general statistic for herpes in the civilian population is, like, one in four....Military is higher because 1) our age group, 18-35ish , and 2) as a group we are a bunch of risk takers (go figure). My ex had herpes and he certainly never had a waiver. You'll be fine.

you MUST disclose ALL Medical records/issues/treatments/etc. period. failure to do so is Fraud and can land you in a LOT of hot water. a waiver may or may not be authorized for Herpes.
