I have osteo arthritis in the severe degenerative stages, there's little to no hope left for me. After 14 years of pain, they finally, after twelve surgeries, put in a Medtronic pain, electronic stimulator in my spine. Five of the pain meds I was taking have been stopped and, it's stopped 70% of the pain.

There are other means, I think they've tried them all on me at one time or the other. Heavy drugs, you can't eat, can't poop, can't really live a normal life. Then there's surgery all the time. Everytime one heals, they do another, years go by and nothing is accomplished. Your still in pain.

First see a good neurologist and maybe a orthopedic surgeon. Ask what your real problems are and, the outcome if they give you a proposition.
If it's simple, that's one story but, if you are going to have problems due to disease or, some type of bad injury ask for an opinion and, how many times they're going to cut with a guarentee. Ask about alternatives and how they work.

Don't let them push you into something you may not like, once it's over, your done. Sometimes, better the pain, I've been there.

I'd go to a Chiropratic doctor. If something has gotten out of place he or she can help get it back where it belongs. Often times, the pain in one place is the body's reaction to a problem in a whole different area. Good luck, I know it can be very painful.

I assume nothing was found on the MRI that might be causing the problem, so good news. However, this does not rule out muscle problems, therefore return to your Doc and ask him to send you to a PT. They tend to have more insight than Docs. Good Luck

go to your GP. and see if the results of your MRI scan has been sent to him/her and they will be able to tell you what sort of treatment you will need "sounds like sciatica"a trapped nerve.or wear and tear on your spine I suffer from that and the only thing I can take is pain killers.Ibuprofen.a MRI scan doesn't take away the pain its an xray of your spine. see your GP. for treatment. good luck.
