Alongside physical changes, you have exam after exam, also thinking about what you want to be in life so you can get the qualifications, theres stress of relationships with family, friends and even girlfriends/boyfriends. That's a pretty easy question to answer.

Adolescence is awkward for many people because they stop being children, but they still aren't mature enough to be adults. When I was an adolescent I felt an overwhelming need to be independent of my parents, but I was too "dumb" and inexperienced to realize that I wasn't really ready to be truly independent.

For example, my parents had a strict rule about how late I could stay out and when I was supposed to come home. I hated having this rule and I thought I should come home whenever I wanted to, I felt compelled to break the rule even though I knew was in trouble--just because I wanted my parents to know I wasn't afraid of them.
No wonder teenagers get frustrated and adults get frustrated with them.

Hi. Adolescence is a transition period in a young person's life. Just like any change in life there are emotions tied to it. Becoming an adult is fraught with responsibility and with more responsibility the potential for stress increases.

Adolescence is the time when transition is made from being a --dependent child, doing as he is told
-- to being an independent thinking and acting responsible person learning to function in numerous areas of his life. All the while this is evolving, so, too, is this person's body. In our family we call it those "horrible-moans" (hormones), causing perceptions and reactions to alter in rapid succession, along with body and mind and emotional changes. These pressures along with expectations of school and work and new and old relationships each pull at the adolescent from many directions simultaneously. Therein is the stress, to accomplish so many changes in so few years.

Becoming financially self-sufficient can really stretch you.

There is one additional stress. That is to get your parents to change how they see you and deal with you, transitioning from child to independent adult.
