If you're talking about reinstalling Windows XP or Vista and have the CDs that came with the PC so you can do the reinstall yourself, if you boot the computer from CD, you'll have the option to delete the partition, create the partition, and format the partition as part of the installation process.

1. Make a bootable diskete (called 98 startup diskete)
2. run the disk, then move to the will-be-formated disk
3. type format

for this you must have a windows cd . & you will have to save the drive's data except windows in a cd or in a pendrive then format the windows & then restarting comp. you have to put an auto boot cd and install your new windows that's solve ..........

pop in your OS install cd's and boot from them, from there choose to do a complete format or delete the partition and recreate it

It really just depends what you're going to use your computer for. If you're only going to install one Operating System, just use the installer program. If you're going to install multiple OS (Windows, Linux, etc.) you need to partition your drive (our use separate drives) and then format.

make sure you have a windows cd, and boot from cd on startup.
i use windows98 nt to format, and then i upgrade to win2k
it is a good idea to do this at least once/year imo

You need to boot from your windows OS disc, select the options you want for reformatting, it is very easy and simple, you should have no problems doing it.

you will need a boot disk befor you begin. formating w/o one would be the last thing you do until you take it to the shop to have them fix it for you
