your color can come form a darker skinned ancestor from several generations ago, people have forgotten that person was darker, but the gene is still in your family, and comes out from time to time. Most people would be very surprised to find out through DNA just where they come from.

Thats not the reason youre darker. You can have the same skin tone from an ancestor from either side of your family that you may not have ever met. Like a great-great-great grand mother or father.
Im dark and so is my brother, but my sister is light, and we all have the same mother and father.

Yes, it happens, I'm sure somewhere down your family tree are ancestors with darker skin tones, the same applies to a redhead or blonde born in a family full of brunettes. Some genes are not active every generation, sometimes they skip generations.

You probably got it from another relative. Look at pictures, who else in your family has a similar color?
It has nothing to do with your Mom being around black people when she was pregnant or being born in a hot area. It is all heredity and genetics.

i know that the Morse was black Muslims, and before they took over Sicily all the white people in that part of the world had blond hear and blue eyes, and now Thar skin, hair, and eyes are dark even after hundreds of years of no interaction with black people, and the same is true win you mix whites with any of the people of color, so your family might be part Sicilian , native american or hispanic .

You might have a different daddy... I would recommend a paternity test. You just should send in a hair sample from you and your dad. Your family is filling your head with nonsense if they say ambient temperature affects skin tone at birth.

As per science, the color factor is affected by some of the following reasons, family hereditory charectors, health of the mother, climaic conditions etc.
But nothing is wrong to be in black or brown.
These factors will not separate you from your family.

Maybe your mom was craving for dark colored food during her pregnancy, like chocolates, dates, coffee, etc. Call me a "quack" but these things do happen. When i was pregnant with my first baby, a girl, i used to keep looking at the eyes of a Hawaiian hula doll, with big eyes and very thick and curly eyelashes. My baby, i'm proud to say, had very thick and curly eyelashes when she was born. And my eyelashes or my husband's aren't thick and curly. For my second baby, a boy, this time i was craving for boiled, unborn baby chicks still in their eggshells. This is a delicacy in our country and we call it "Balut". When my baby boy was born, he was covered with hairs from head to foot. But of course, the hairs disappeared as he grew older. And for my third and last baby, another boy, i was craving for milk in ice cream form. When my baby was born, he was so fair skinned, with almost blond hair, he really could have been mistaken for an American baby. And we are Filipinos with naturally light-brown skin and brown to black hair. And i wasn't fooling around with anybody for that matter. So, keep cool. It does happen.

Agree with Tragedy crept.
Some don't wana to omit that they have a dark family member down the family tree.
Inwhich it's a shame.
Encourage you to do your family tree.

It dependens on your race. If you are hispanic, is normal, I'm puertorican, and my both parents are dark-toned skin (my dad looks like an hindu), but i'm white with green eyes!!!, my grandpa and aunt has my eyes, so i got that color from them. but if you are caucasian, is not normal. and dont believe on the "you eat chocolate during pregnancy...blablabla" genetics dont work that way. If your mother/father has dark-tone genes, you probably got them, but as i sayd, if you are caucasian, that is NOT probable! maybe you are adopted, your father is other man.
