Can't you tell by yourself? If not, how could you possibly know that the book is right?

All humans have God-given conscience that tells them basic right and wrong.

God can't be discerned unless he reveals himself. He reveals himself to believers by his holy spirit. This enables them to judge truth from error. Apart from God working in the life of a human being, it is impossible for him or her to know whether the Bible is right or wrong, just as you said.

I am coming to the conclusion that men can't or won't think and demand to be lead or have been lead for so long they can't function without it any longer

School comes to mind - The first 8 grades is spent more or less learning to line up put your hand up and repeat ready made facts with no thought process it is all memory work

Not that memory work is bad but it becomes bad when it is 100 % of your day or even just 90 %

High school and University are not all that different no matter what people tell you Go look into the lecture halls and watch the people all quiet writing notes tapes of the lecture etc trying to hear and understand somthing they will repeat later

So perhaps we all start out being able to think maybe not I am not sure - One message remains clear -

That book is god and if you can memorize that then you are smart - No thinking there really that is the work of a parrot

But you must understand it - Ok fine still not a question or thinking just understanding instructions and concepts someone else poured into your head -

Work - same thing - TV same thing -

All society wants apparently is a mob smart enough to do the work and too dumb to question and that is what the first years of our lives were about - School therefore does not teach one to think but rather "do" it's purrpose is to teach or uh train like a dog a person to perform a task

So now to the question you pose -

Why do I need a book to tell me right from wrong ?

What !?! That book is god I am an empty vessel taught to perform a task not think - How could I ? I am not qualified

Where is the leader the supervisor the , the , the book ?

All my life I have been punished for thinking and ridiculed for asking and told over and over that I can't

So now on a big issue like that I need a book

My question is did we develop these methods and so on becuase we as a group just can't think and needed to be fit into a formula

Or - or were we all born thinking curious persons who were fit into that formula and kept in it until like Pavlov's dog we salivated at the sound of the bell and then were given a cookie - repeated long enough to make us unable to be away from books and bells ?

Who are you to guide yourself? Would be my question back at you.
The Word of God states that in a man's own eyes seems right, but in fact is not right at all.
The Word of God is life. Plain and simple.
I know it must be hard for you to understand.
Sit down and talk to God sometime (like an old buddy) you don't have to use fancy words, etc...
Ask Him to reveal Hiself to you and to help you understand. Best luck to you. God Bless.
This will help you. Romans 1:6, Revelation 1:3, 2 Peter 1:19, Hebrews 4:12, Psalms 11l:130, Proverbs 6:23.

No, most people cannot tell by themselves. Especially if they haven't been raised with a moral compass. Most people look to one entity for rules and regulations. A leader, a guide and the book is supposed to have been written by god's emissaries. Even if you are a non-religious person, the ten commandments are good rules to live by.

Too ignorant on the insights of the Bible for me to explicitly give you an answer. For example, if the book called the Bible is truly the written word of God, what gives you the right to reject its basis of right and wrong??? My notion is that you have not even read the Bible.

Man's history has proved time and time again we can't get it right. We put one race above another, we enslave people, we murder, rape, steal, lie do I need to go on.

We are no where near perfect so how are we going to create anything that's perfect like relationships?

Take this site as an example. Look at the confusion of many these people. The Bible is the word of God to His creation in which He tells us who He is, what He expects of us, how to take care of ourselves, what to do when we get ourselves into trouble, how to treat others, and how to receive salvation. Satan is the author of confusion.

Natural law dictates us to reason. It makes sense to do that which keep one alive and propogating.
