As long as the cat is out of the bag, you can reassure her that you understand she's upset, but you're being responsible about being sexually active and that she should be proud of you on some level for making that decision.

If she's disappointed in you for not waiting to have sex, that is just coming from her not wanting you to get hurt. Every parent has an idea of how they want the big things in their child's life to happen. She'll get over it. Don't let it get you down. It's better not to keep secrets anyway.

My friend's mom read her diary and called my mom because my friend had written about me being sexually active and on birth control. It was tense for a while, but we got past it. It's been over a decade, and I'm a mom now too. I understand where she was coming from now.

Just be respectful and continue to be responsible. It does get easier, I promise!

No, I did not have to worry about telling my Mom about being on birth control because I did not have sex until I was married and was twenty-three years old.

I had enough self respect for myself and my parents to listen to what they believed in and valued it for myself and my husband as well.

I am still glad that I did so, many years later.

It was the best choice for my husband and I.

Here's a little life tip from someone a bit older...if you have to explain something to your parents that you feel bad about, you should not be doing it in the first place.

Good luck.

hey thats not a bad thing. It shows your responsible. My mum took me to get it so no i havent been there. 19 is a good age , you are not too young to have a bf. Just talk to your mum and let her know you now have a bf , maybe let her meet him. Your mum will understand after all you are now an adult

You should not feel bad about it, just talk to her. Hopefully your mom is understanding and can offer you the best advice. You don't have to be afraid of your parents because we are here to help. Good luck!

I asked my mom when I was 16 to take me to the doctor to get on birth control and she did. I don't hide things from my parents.

It would depend on your age of course, at age 12 I would have freaked out and so would have my mother, at age 17, it shouldn't have been a big deal, and if you felt that bad, then you obviously felt you were doing something wrong that you had guilt issues with.

I told my mom I needed birth control to regulate my periods because they were so bad and so unpredictable and it helped me deal with them. Of course she didn't know I was having sex on the patch, but that's another story. I let her know that's why I wanted them to begin with. Mom's usually believe you if you go to them first before you try to sneak them behind her back.

My mom actually got the birth control FOR me, my mother was supportive and she actually cared about me.

My mother, and me are not afraid of female sexuality, it was never an issue for us.
