You misunderstand. The prohibition isn't on naming a person Mohammed. The prohibition is on naming an animal or an object Mohammed. I don't agree that blasphemy is a crime in a free society, but Sudan is NOT a free society, and she knew that when she signed on.
She got off light. She was facing months in jail, and a state-sponsored beat down.

Hmm. You mean the people who danced in the streets when the World Trade Center was hit on September 11, 2001 and who rioted in the streets after that Danish cartoon came out last year and the guys who put a rape victim in prison for two years and ordered her to be lashed 200 times for getting raped only gave that teacher 15 days in jail for misnaming a teddy bear? Those slackers.

No -- I think a better tactic would be for everyone to get a teddy bear and name it Mohammed.
They can't flog us all (although I think that secretly many of them hope they will someday have the chance)

I think the world has gotten a little madder.
I think that women, more and more, are the target of men's ire.
I think that God is a God of Peace and Tranquility, and these sorts of incidents are contrary to God. I hope that in the end, true justice is served. If not in this life, then the next. May God have mercy upon us all.
