Okay, so i want to loose five pounds, but at the same time i don't, i just want to firm up and loose fat from my thighs. i don't know if running/jogging/walking is a good idea because i live in a creepy neighborhood and no one ever wants to walk with me anywhere and my family doesn't own a treadmill, so i need something that's fun to do, i've considered biking already but i don't have a bike. so plz someone suggest something fun.

Jump roping is a great way to firm up your legs. Start with fifty jumps at a time, and gradually increase the amount everyday. Sing some corny jump rope rhymes if it helps. Your arms will get a workout as well, from all that jumping. Exercise videos are an excellent idea, as someone else suggested. I use "Firm it up" with Suzanne Cox. The dvd cost $1.00 at walmart and features two different cardio workouts of pretty high intensity. Of course, since you're looking to firm up your body, you may want to focus on strength/resistance training videos. Don't start off with something too hard, or you won't stick with it. Try something easy for about 1/2 hr everyday, and increase as you get used to working out. Invest in a pair of 3-5 1b dumb bells or use books or other heavy objects to work out your arm muscles. Practice three reps of twenty arm curls at a time and increase as you get stronger. You can also use your own body as resistance to strengthen yourself. Do squants and stretches to firm your legs, situps to flatten your tummy if needed. Remember, strength training works best if performed every other day for at least fifteen minutes at a time.

Jump rope! It burns more calories than running and really tones up the legs, plus you can do it right in your own back yard, or on the sidewalk in front of your house, or even, space permitting, in your living room or basement. And they're pretty cheap. You can get one at a sporting goods store, or online.

Because of the limitations that you mentioned, would you feel comfortable renting a workout video in the privacy of your own home?

Just a thought.
