It all depends on the town, county and state you live in. Try calling your county courthouse for leads.

If there is a mortgage on the property it could be that a part of your monthly payment to the mortgage holder includes a reserve for the property taxes (Called an Escrow). In which case the taxes are paid by the Mortgage company.

Call your county courthouse - they should be able to give you the info.

If you have a mortgage, it's very possible that you are paying your real estate taxes into an escrow account with them. If so, they'll get the bills and pay them from your escrow account, and you'll get a notice at the end of the year saying what they paid.

Contact your local county tax collector and ask if your tax bill is being sent to your lender. You can request that a duplicate bill be sent to you. In my state, California, the tax collector sends a courtesy copy of the bill to the property owner.

If you have an escrow account where your mortgage is held, you can call the mortgage company to find out what they paid.
