Just to clarify something, there was no "saudi" side at that time. Geographically, it's the Arabian Peninsula. The so-called "saudi" state is just a new situation that appeared in the 20th Century as a result of the Western efforts to divide the Ottoman Empire.

It was to the east of the Jordan.
The legend is that Moses first saw "the Promised Land " from the top of Mount Nebo which is in Jordan.
But if you stand there and look towards Israel you can only see the north end of the Dead Sea, part of the Jordan Valley and the hills on the other side, not the huge area they now claim.
It's possible to walk from the Red Sea to Israel in two weeks so how he manged to take forty years i cannot understand.

"In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they [into] the wilderness of Sinai. For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come [to] the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount." (Exd 19:1-2)

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. Luke 4:5-7
Moses wanted the "promised land" and Satan said he would give it to him. (Satan mixed lies with truth). The land promised to Abraham was the kingdom of heaven.
