If I question religion I am considered stupid or lost or the work of the devil. (Just for asking questions, not even accusing religion of being a comfortable delusion.)

The world would be a better place without anything that discourages thinking, not just religion.

Religion is a evidently happening side of the social progress of a society. Initially faith supplies solutions to difficult philosophical questions approximately the character of lifestyles and supplies the constitution for morality, legislation and govt. However, as soon as technological know-how starts to find fact the experiences and fables of those religions start to collapse and clash with information. Today, such a lot humans recognize on a base degree that the bible and faith is phony (simply appear at humans movements, do they relatively feel in judgment? i suppose now not) however the truly solutions, like how Earth is only a bite of rock floating in bloodless, black house or that we can must come to a decision morality for ourselves, are uncomfortable and nobody wishes the accountability. Religion supplies constitution for a whilst however past a designated factor holds society again. That's in which we're at now. Religion supplies an anthropomorphized variation of a "god" which I consider may be very effortless to look by way of. Religion is so frightened of wasting it is grip (via grip I imply vigour, manipulate and cash) that it turns into wholly illiberal towards any conflicting suggestions, adding FACTS. People are too afraid to reside with out faith however every new release will get somewhat smarter and somewhat braver with a view to result in the abandonment of geared up faith. Eventually. Religion could be a lot more tolerable if devout zealots have been much less illiberal. Live your possess lives and give up telling all people else tips on how to reside theirs, and give up vote casting.

This is a bigger question than you probably think.

Religion exists because God exists. The fact that God is transcendent (is of a different essence than his creation) means we can only know what he reveals about himself to us. As a result, many can claim to have revelation and if they do a good job of selling it, many will follow.

So I think the world would be better off if there was only one religion, and it was True.

If the world had no religion, then what you're asking is would the world be better off if there was no God. That's difficult to imagine since the things that exist in the universe depend on an uncaused cause for their existence, and that uncaused cause must be outside of nature (i.e. supernatural) or else the universe simply doesn't make logical sense.

I can't imagine a universe in which God didn't exists. And since all bets would be off in terms of what life would be like, it's impossible to speculate if the universe would be better or worse. I think it would just "be" and that's neither better nor worse. It just is.

i think that if the world actually lived with the religion of the bible (which is caring for widows and orphans) than this worl would be great! however, people forget that christianity is a lifestyle and not a religion. so sad...but true. i think the christian faith has been portrayed as a person thumping you over you head with rules...that is not why christ sacrificed his life. after all, he did say, " 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.[g] 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

Definitely. You only have to look at the state of the Middle East which is the home of the three most prominent religions to see where belief in this sort of thing will lead you.

Yes, I think so. Although Stalin and Mao probably killed more in absolute numbers than any theist ever did, from a historical perspective percentage wise, religion has killed the most, and is responsible for suppression of knowledge more than any other force beyond famine.
