So my sister created a few business cards for the three of us (all sisters) a few years back, and apparently created an email address that didn't go on there. The handle is something like "smithsisters." To me the handle implies all 3 of us are in on this email account, that it's used or could be used for the business card deal, and that we should've been notified that she was creating an account handle like this.

She says she only sends stuff to herself and that this was the first time she'd sent anywhere else (she forwarded something to me today, which is how I found out about it). I believe her but I still think she should've asked us first, as it's like it's got our names on it as well. Am I making a mountain out of a mole hill or am I right to feel a bit irked?

You're a three different persons, although you're sisters. So she should ask first your permission about this.

Something happens there will be no problem if she will admit she'll be alone accountable for it. But if she includes you, then that is your problem.

This was for a joint business venture? And she did not tell you she created a secret business email account to which only she had access and could have been answering and sending emails on behalf of the business? What if she had taken an action which ended up getting the business sued? I would send her an email to this account (so this is in writing, what if God forbid, something happened to her and an online bill was going to this account?) and insist she change the name on the email and also tell you what emails she has sent or received.

Unless the three of you have a business that you all run together, I think you're being too sensitive about it--my parents also have an email account that is something like "thesmiths", but my mom's the only one who uses it.

you have every right to be informed about the account since it was meant for the three of you

She should grant you access to the account.
