Umm, No. Be about as useful as staying silent, so i'd conserve energy for anything i could do that would make a difference...

If anything, if I believed, i'd be cursing him for creating this havoc in the first place..

Nope....

Why would I waste time calling on a fictional deity when that time could be better spent trying to extricate myself...

Last winter while driving down I-44 I hit a patch of black ice and rolled my car over an embankment.. When the car finally came to rest I was upside down, the windows were shattered out and it was beginning to snow again (winter storm forecasted to last 2-3 days and shut down 44) ... I was dressed in a tee-shirt, sweatshirt, jeans and hiking boots (I couldn't get my wintercoat as it was trapped between the passenger door and the passenger seat) .. I knew I had to get out of the car and get to the road before dark (less than an hour I crashed about 4:30 pm it gets dark early in the mountains) or my chances of survival were very slim...

I unfastened my seatbealt, dropped to the roof of the car, shimmied out the drivers door window, went around and spent a few minutes trying to extricate my coat... Then made my way up the embankment first attempting to walk and finally resorting to crawling...

Once I got to the top I rested a few minutes then slid down the snowbank made by previously passing plows to the road and began walking what I estimated as about 4 miles to the nearest rest area.. (I decided on the crimb over the embankment that I would start walking as I hadn't heard any cars during the climb..)

I was headed to the rest stop because of telephones, heated restrooms and year round running water in the restrooms... I had a few questions regarding vending macines I didn't remember there being any if there were I would break into them if necessary... If I was gonna be stuck during the storm the rest stop was the best choice as I at least had water and warmth..

I made it to within sight of the rest stop (about a 2.5 hour walk) when a highway patrolman spotted me and stopped... His was the first car I had seen in the entire time...

I never once even thought to call out to any deity, I was far too busy extricating myself from the situation to think about fiction stories...

When I was going home one night with my 2 kids, we were hit by a drunk driver. My car flipped over on it's side, after falling from a steep bank off the road. I began to call on God. Me and my 2 kids were able to get out of the car with just some bruising. I am thankful to God that we weren't killed. I hope that nothing bad happens to you like the question that you asked. If it did, I hope and pray that you do call on God? God bless you.

What would be the point?
You may as well call out to Zeus.
Just get yourself to do the sensible thing. Make a bloody effort and do not rely on the non-existent assistance from an imaginary friend, which will never arrive.
Do you not think that all those religious folks around the world in peril right now, as in Darfur, are not calling out to an entity ... which is doing nothing?
Waste of your strength and oxygen.

With the everyday situations that calls for help and there hasn't been a sign from any of the millions of the deities to rescue them, I would fail to see by now calling upon any deity to help me in such a situation you described. I rather yell or make some sort of loud noise until help arrived.

I sure would! While I was working on the problem and in between vexed curses, I would call on the Christian God, all right... and Allah, and Vishnu, and Buddha, and Apollo, and Brahma, and Athena, and any of the many minor Shinto deities that might be nearby. Any port in a storm, I figure.

Been there. Done that. Sure did.

Been in the life or death situation. Doesn't matter to me if anyone is there to help or not, the first one I am going to call out is the Lord.

I might, who knows what my mind would see as reasonable in such a situation full of panic..

I wouldn't expect an answer though.

If I was then saved - I still wouldn't attribute that to God.

I honestly can say, I wouldn't even think to do so.

I've been in precarious situations before where I have sworn like a sailor, and nearly exhibited super-human strength to save my assss, but my days of praying and being ignored are far behind me. I'm the one who looks out for me.
