Sounds to me like it could be vestibular disease. It throws the dogs sense of balance off and can cause them to have shakes. It also can make it difficult to eat. Here is a website with more information. You should see your vet again, and hopefully this will help.

It sounds to me as though the dog might have vestibular syndrome, which usually originates in the inner ear.It throws the dog off balance, makes them dizzy and makes their head tilt.Sometimes their eyes will also move rapidly back and forth. This is called "nystagmus." It usually occurs in older dogs. I have had three dogs with it.My vet treated them with prednisone for inflammation, meclizine for nausea and cephalexin for possible infection in the brain. It takes a while to resolve, and sometimes the dog's head stays tilted. You will just have to hand feed him ( have someone hold his head steady while you feed him) until you get him back to the vet.Ask about the vestibular syndrome.

Did you recently change food? My dog has been shaking a little but, I think it's because he is cold. He also shakes when we are eating dinner. I think it's in antipation of getting a scrap.
