Yeah, for $10 an hour. You get to work in the ER, chase different doctors around and document the stuff they tell you to write down. However, while you are being trained, you must put up with disrespect from the trainer, stress from other people who seem to think they are bigger than you etc. The trainers don't agree about specifics themselves so everytime you show up to get trained, you won't know what to expect. You get yelled at if you make a compliment to a staff member. You are asked if you are deaf, hard of hearing, mentally ill and everything else within these lines. You are stared at in a weird way, your mistakes are brought out to light right in front of everyone yet if it's something personal against you, they take you out the hall where all the family can hear. Is it worth keeping? Is it worth it for $10 an hour and experience? What would you do?

I'm assuming you are a clerk or tech in ER if you're making $10.00/hr. I'm not sure where you're living and working. If you choose ER as a place to work, it is one of the most stressful (and exciting) places in a hospital to work. As far as being insulted...no one needs to put up with that so if people are saying those things to you, talk to your Supervisor or Human Resources.
Also, check out your sensitivities...are you having problems in the job that are leading to mistakes and you are already fearful of what is going to happen, so it's kind of a self fulfilling prophesy? i.e. you are so worried about mistakes you make more? Maybe there are jobs that would be more compatible for you. I don't think the salary is worth the blows to your self esteem.

Only if you want to be a doctor or nurse. It may seem like it is not worth it right now. Keep in mind, they may just be trying to weed out the people who can't take it. Don't take it personally, it has nothing to do with you as a person. That is the hardest lesson to learn in business. Once you take that advice to heart, everything gets easier. Good luck and hang in there. You will laugh about it one day.

You have to pay the price of knowledge.Just think, one day you will be possibly thinking and acting like them.Hopefully , you will remember how you were treated and not do the same to some one else.
This will actually teach you how to deal with different personalities and different supervisors. Sorry, but in the long run it will help you learn a lot.

You're asking the WRONG Question... The CORRECT one is; how BADLY do you need the job? It's a LOT easier to quit a job -than get another... And there's NO Guarantying that your next job will BE any better- or pay any more!

Though it depends on where you are in your career (if it's a necessary thing to go through to get to the next level up), I say harassment isn't worth it. If you can find a better job, get one and then quit this.

Who the hell can live on $10 per hour?? I'd say look for another job that pays better, and when you find it, quit your job at the ER.

You aren't the first to suffer through this, and probably won't be the last. Stick with it, unless you are a loser.
