i just wanted to know. never having been drunk myself, i wouldnt know why this happens.

It does happen and here's why- branches of the vagus nerve enervate both your GI tract and your diaphragm. Alcohol can irritate the part in your stomach and cause a reaction of the part in your diaphragm.

I'm not sure either, but once I drank this drink called Sex On The Beach and I drank ALOT and it gave me hiccups for hours. The next weekend my friend drank the same stuff and she had hiccups for hours. So it happens!

I think it is due to some of the more bubbly drinks like champagnes and fizzes.
