Carnivores don't have to eat meat all the time. Also, they kept the carnivores and the herbivores separate on the ark so that the animals wouldn't eat each other. Plus, what if the female animals on the ark were all pregnant and just all happened to go into labor at the same time and had more than the ordinary amount of babies/litters? Also, was Noah the only guy with a boat...could there not have been a group of fisherman on a trip or something and they came on board of Noah's ark and became food...just because? Is it possible? Maybe.

Do we have to think of all this stuff for you? Jeez!

That is a bizarrely good question, I'm surprised I've never heard it before. I wonder what they could've eaten.... unless perhaps extra meat was already brought aboard? I mean, what did Noah and his family eat? When the water lasted longer than they anticipated, did they indulge into the animals to erase and entire species?

(As for the feces question, if the tale were actually true, and I'm not saying it is or isn't, but that would be no different from cleaning out a horse stall. He would've just mucked out the areas then thrown it overboard).

EDIT** Okay, WHERE in the bible does it say that animals were not carnivores before the flood? WTF? That is no where in the bible, and to infer that is ridiculous. Unless someone can spout out an exact verse that says as much, ppl need to stop believing what they hear and go do the actual research themselves. Why is that so hard?

If God could have Noah build an ark big enough for all the species, and have two of each species (or seven of the clean species, depending on which version) come to Noah, don't you think God could also make the animals last 40 days without eating?

What's even stranger is that as soon as the flood waters receded and Noah landed the Ark, Noah thanked God by sacrificing some of the animals!

I was taught that the carnivores survived on milk from the cows, camels etc.....
And the dung? Easy! Remember it was raining for 40 days and 40 nights? The whole world was "washed new", so why not the decks of the Ark?

He used part of other critters to feed the carnivors. Another person stated perhaps god caused all animals to revert temporarilly to like they were in the garden of eden- everything eating grains, ect.
also, the feces were simply tossed out the window, into the deluge

great question, btw

It's not clear that animals were carnivorous before the flood.

It's possible that most of the animals hibernated during the flood.

He may have fed them vegies and grain -- whatever he had for the herbivores.

He may have fed them rabbits!

The feces he shoveled overboard.

he fed them dead animals, which are not counted. either that or they went without for 40 days. if god can make it rain 40 days and nights, i'm sure he could figure out a way to keep the animals alive with or without food for that long. as far as the second part of the question, he probably did what all the carnival cruise ships do with waste, dump it overboard.

The carnivores ate grasses during that time. Apparently, they'll do it again during the Millenial Reign.Read the side panel on your cat's [cheap] cat food. They can eat all sorts of stuff.
