Lane Bryant model huh? Going to be the new model at Women at Large?
Head shots are a good way to show your face. But a "full figured" women like you should accent her whole behemoth size and do a full body picture. As much as some would shutter at the idea, you need to show them your stuff (junk).

Either or. I have done both before and am proud of the outcomes. Besides I would find it difficult to get yourself noticed without either one of them really.
Here's a scenario:
You go to one and that person made you feel uncomfortable in any way shape or form and the other didn't you might give off a different facial expression that you thought you might have never had versus the other individual you may have dealt with. I saw that in my brothers head-shots who is in SAG, I am in AFTRA.
But in a nutshell...keep your options open! You may never know who or what for that matter you might be dealing with, and that might reflect the type of person you were at that particular time you were doing business with.
Just my big fat opinion.

Photo students will do this cheap and they learn it in class. Head shots are pretty simple. Ask to see examples. If you feel unsure go to a pro- it is an investment in a career.

Yes.. but, you don't have to pay a fortune. You should find a local photographer that does a lot of natural lighting work (will take you outside for a shoot) You also want the photographer to have experience in photoshop to fix any minor blemishes, under-eye circles, etc. Good luck! More power to ya!

Take the cheap ones! A pro will overcharge you and I bet you come out looking the same. And while you're at it, take some versatile pics too, like you in casual wear, evening wear, full body shots and such. Just remember hide the brand names of the clothes you're wearing.

"Up and Coming" photographers need portfolios too!! Try searching for one in your area, I have seen new photographers looking for models on webshots and flicker. You can do each other a favor, at the very least it's experience for both of you.
PS...I think 8x10 are about $2 on mpix.com - I Think!
