This is a variation on "every cloud has a silver lining" --
except this has an element of fear -
Most fear is unbased and comes from insecurities within, uncertainty as to one's relationship with the eternal -
The classic example is when Peter asked Jesus to allow him to join him walking on the water of the Sea of Galilee - Jesus invited him and amazingly Peter stepped out and was doing it!! And then, he saw the size of the waves, became afraid and began to sink - amazing, as if the size of the waves had anything to do with walking on water! Oh, it's easy and anyone can do it when the water is smooth? And that, friends is how it works most of the time - the thing feared is not relevant to the task at hand. As interesting is that it says "he began" to sink - that is, he didn't just instantly plunge underwater, but slowly sank as his fear grew - worth pondering - and, as always, the meaning of this tale is of greater importance than whether it really happened or not.

That elementary teach, Mrs Thompson, I believe, made a new meaning for fearing shadows. The story would be inspiring if anyone only cared to emulate the actions of this one teacher.
It is very positive and can make a remarkable difference in our lives.
Worth the read, this was told years ago as a true story. I remembered it and looked it up. Thanks for bringing it back to my mind.

I love it. You could take it one step further, yea, though I walk the valley of the shadow of death. Jesus is our light nearby guiding us home.
What a wonderful quote. I am going to use it all week as I travel home to Indiana.
Wow.

That's very encouraging. Unfortunately, that light blinds some and they end up making up stories-like the one about a single, male deity creating life with no motivation.

Completely agree. This statement exactly describing the state of our false self.
The word "shadow" in this statement points to the picture that we are looking at all the time. The picture of what we think about ourself. This picture is what we think on how we look to ourself. At every moment this picture is getting refreshed with result and our won judgements about our won actions. This picture is all that cumulative representation of our self through all the actions that we have done from the time we born.
This picture is mix of all the events that happened in our life and our own opinion about these events and actions that we did in those events. So this picture is complete mix of facts (which events that happend to us) and false (which is our opinon about those events).
This picture is what we think ourself to be. Our identity is drawn from how we look in this picture. This picture is continuously changing over time. We are continuously working all the time to improve the way we look in this picture. We are never statisfied with how we look in this picture. So we are on the move, with all our energy, in all our actions to continuously improve the way we look in the picture. Process is continuing in a never ending cycle. Every one is got up in this cycle. In this struggle to make this picture look as good as possible so that we feel statisfied with it and stop changing it and be happy with it all the time. But this happy end is not seen any where near. So every one of us on the move in a never ending travel.
Simple, clear focussed investigation of this process will revel the following simple truth and this process can be ended right now, if only we wish for the same.
1. This picture is only our imagination. Not real. It looks like real because it is mixed up with past events. Those events are fact as it is.
2. All that we need to do, remove all the openions from this picture and look at the fact as it is.
3. This picture is only imaginery one projected in our mind. The picture itself is not real one. The person who is seeing this picture is real or true self.
4. What is seen in this picture is very very limited version of the true self, this so limited because of limiation of the body, mind and space, in which the soul, or the true self fucntions.
5. It is self that by misunderstand believes that this picture is true. Since it is not reflecting the true nature of soul, it cires and suffers and going working towards making it perfect.
6. it is our innerself that need to understand the falsy of this process by pure & unbiased deeper investigation of this process and realize that there is nothing what so ever wrong with itself. All the suffering is because of this wrong understanding, it took that picture to be real, while it is not so.
When this realization dawn in one heart, this misblief dies right away. All the false along with its suffering comes to stop. Our real life begins from there with no more doubts about our innerself.
One clue to this understanding, Think about our love towards our mother. Can you think about an event/action in your life, that has fully, completely expressed your love. I feel there is no action that one can do, to do this. The reason is our love is limitless and infinite, can not be expressed at all.
If this the case, how all your other actions will ever refelect your true inner self?. if you capture this question, the imeadite thing that you need to do, is stop looking at that shawdow for ever from now. Because of old hapit, mind will go and look at that picture, tell bodly that it only picture, no reality to it and most importantly it does not reflect you at all, thus turn your attention to this false picture, you will notice that this will start your inner journey, which will be end less, becuse your are an endless, infinite being, which nothing but love, love and love alone.
