First of all, ignore wikipedia. They are less than reliable. Secondly, have you never seen a sumo? Does this site list the height and weight of every asian guy there is? Stop with the generalizations. If you apply this line of thinking to every asian guy in the world simply because you've seen a few or read about a few that are thin by your standards, it doesn't mean that "asian guys are mostly always so thin".

Okay lemme just answer your question.... hmm asian guys are thin mostly because of genetics... i'd say. Me being asian, during my track season, everyday i would work out my abs and biceps and basically everything still no improvement. Like there wa no physical difference(yeah that kinda sucked). ALSO, everyday my mom buys me some fast food cause i'm a growing child haha whether it be Mcdonalds or Culver--super fatty fast food place-- i would never gain a pound (which rocks) so to sum up genetics for most asians keep them nice and thin... notice i say most cause some are BUFFFF hope this helped haha

I will try not to stereotype this but my guess would be it is the food. Chinese and Japanese food have many veggies and lots of rice. There is meat as a matter of fact Asia is the largest consumer of pork. It is just in smaller amounts. Don't look at the Chinese-American food as a diet example. Most of it is Americanized with less rice and more deep fried stuff. Many years ago I spent a month in Japan and the majority of the food came with a large bowl of rice and green tea. I had alot of seafood in that month in Japan than I probably had in a year at home.

Partially genetics & partially diet. There definitely are overweight Asians, but they occur less frequently. My bf is Chinese & he eats like a horse. Still skinny as a rail. Plus his diet here is not as healthy (American food).

They tend to be ectomporph body types, i.e. small framed, not much fat but not much muscle either.

Be aware that in asian countries, the overweight cut-offs are lower than in the west.

McDonald's hasn't existed on the Asian continent long enough for there to be "super-sized Asian" people.

Mostly asians are very thin. They eat very healthy and know how to say no to bad food.
