Has God predetermined which people will obey Him? Has He decided in advance who will be righteous--who will be christians & ultimately be saved? If this is true, could He also have determined who will be lost? Are all people in the catagory of either "lost" or "saved"? What does the Bible have to say about all this? I know we should repent of our sins and be saved. But, where does the above fit in?

This is an interesting question. At first, I thought you were revisiting the behaviorism vs. sociobiology debate. As to God predetermining us, I don't think we can know all that much about God's plans. There are two ways you might want to look at this. In creating the world, God set up the laws of nature, gave the universe a push and let things develop--the big bang, perhaps more than one big bang, evolution,, etc.--so if you believe we are controlled by genetics (ala sociobiology), I guess you could say we are predetermined. Another scenario might go something like this. God lives in eternity. There is no time. Think of a being who sees all of history happening at once. I'm not sure in this scenario if one would say we are predetermined. But again, I don't think we can have much more than an inkling about God's actions.

YES!
Yours, mine and every one's life is PREDETERMINED.
According to the theory of continuity of birth and continuity of Karma (acts), karma build your thought and your thoughts build karmas.

There are three types of karmas according to indian mythology. Satwik (good and divine), Rajsik (good but egoistic, related to sensory system) and Tamsik ( pleasure in harming some one).

Now let us see how these karma acts. A karma may give result immediately( like drinking water quenches your thirst), after some time ( banking the result) or your old karma is giving you result now(withdrawl from bank).

Depending on type(satwik, rajsik or tamsik) and the action ( immediate, banked or withdrawl) your future is casted.

The art of coming out of this viscious circle of acts and results is called Raj yoga. You attribute everything to God and detach yourself from good or bad karma.

THE ABOVE IS A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THEORY OF KARMA AS EXPLAINED IN GITA.
IT IS BEYOND ANY REASONABLE DOUBT THAT LIFE IS PRE-DETERMINED AS PER WORKING OF ABOVE THEORY.

Since we live in causal universe, all of our lives are predetermined. We're just too stupid and ignorant to understand how.

If you believe in god, then you must also believe that he created everyone as he intended them to be. When people choose not to believe in god, they use their brain to choose. And god was the one who created the brains of those individuals. Therefore we could say that god indirectly pretermined everyone's life.

Thankfully, god is imaginary.

Before we were created God knew who would choose to follow Him and who would not. We do not understand His ways, but we have to trust that He knows and has control over everything.
