definetly not, that's totally rediculous. in order for the body to burn a higher amount of calories it has to be performing some kind of work. sitting is sitting, doesn't matter if you are in a sauna or freezer. the metabolic rate will increase very slight and ONLY for the period that you are in the sauna. so there is no increase in the resting metabolic rate. you would have to be a lazy sob to use a sauna for fat loss.

You probably seen that infrared sauna thing that claims to burn 1,000 calories in 30 mins. I insist on a closer study that proves it. On theory, if it's anything similar to cold laser therapy where light hyperstimulates mitochondrial cells, then sure, makes somewhat sense, then again, I wouldn't be comfortable irradiating my body with infrared radiation. Just letting you know, most saunas burn about 300 calories, so 1,000 calories is one bold statement.

If you're in a sauna
you dont burn any calories
maybe just sitting there and the basic ones you burn
but all you lose is waterweight
