About 1997. My doubts were subsequently replaced by certitude. I now accept that personification of spiritual values is a relic from a bygone era. Perhaps not without some attractive features, but even if so,more a nostalgia item than anything else.

I doubted the existence of GOD about three years ago. I was living in Texas at the time and the only reason I ever attended Church was to get away from the house. My friends wanted me to go with them but the lives we lived together were anything but Christian. Also, the Church had a very distorted and perverted rendering of the Bible. I was under the oppression that Christian believed the whole Bible not just bits and pieces of it! The Churches I had sporadically attended growing up never one time gave me reason for doing something from the Bible; it was always based on emotions and feelings! I had decided that the Bible was not the word of God and that Church was a large hoax! After moving to Arkansas my sister became interested in the whole Church thing! I was still in high school at the time and my mom wanted me to go with my sister the first couple times she went to Church. So I went, the second time I went to Church I asked Christ to save my soul. I was still in doubt at the time I did it, but after hearing the preaching, Truth penetrated my heart! Now...I am a fundamentalist!

You emphasized the word "doubted" so this makes me think you chose that word purposely. There is nothing wrong with questioning the existence of God. As somebody else remarked -- this is only human. But to actually "doubt." I believe that is sin. After all, did God not say:

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." (Rev. 22:13)

But, to answer your question... I can't tell you a particular time in my life when I doubted God's existence -- though there were certainly many times that I felt that way. You see, I've suffered many things in my 50+ years of life -- including 40+ years of a moderate to severe case of Psoriasis. Trust me, if you don't have it, then you have absolutely no concept of just what it is like to have it. At any rate...

What I *can* tell you is exactly when I stopped doubting His existence. That would be April 24th, 1995 at about 6am. I won't go into the full details, but suffice it to say that I woke up that morning with the very clear knowledge that Jesus had answered a very simple, but very personal, prayer of mine from the night before.

No, He didn't heal my Psoriasis. That, of course, has been a very sore point of contention between me and the Lord on many occasions. But, He did heal my spirit (my emotions). He gave me a Peace I'd never experienced before. I've tried very hard to live completely for Him ever since. I'm not perfect, but I know Jesus and the Holy Spirit will get me there before He comes in the Clouds of Heaven bringing His Reward with Him.

Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:"

Hebrews 12:1 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:3 "For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
Hebrews 12:4 "Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
Hebrews 12:5 "And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
Hebrews 12:6 "For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Hebrews 12:7 "If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Hebrews 12:8 "But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. "

I don't ever remember doubting His existence. But, just so y'all don't think I'm shining you on, I do remember a time in my life - probably 18 or so years ago, when I doubted His love for me, and I couldn't imagine that I'd be worth anything to Him... Yeah, I doubted that He could forgive me, doubted that He could care for me or ever use me in His plan. But I honestly have never doubted His existence.

I am not a Christian, but I strongly believe in God or some sort of higher power. I find that I doubt the existence of one, however, every single day.

God has blessed me with the gift of faith, therefore I have never doubted the existance of God. The devil has never doubted the existance of God ethere & he trembles. I wonder why.

People, no matter who they are, where they were raised, or what they were raised believing, have always questioned whether or not a higher power has existed, or does exist.

If they tell you they never have, they're lying.

But it's natural to doubt, and question. That's what makes human beings different from other animals. Our right to question, and choose.
