i'm thinking about getting a scroll on my rib cage ... it's not really girly but i guess it's what i like. i just can't figure out what to put for words inside of it. i was thinking of like scriptures from the bible which stands for my grandparents because they are very religious, but i want it to stand for other things too...so maybe one scripture in cursive and on another part of the scroll have other words. any ideas for words or phrases? things such as like words of wisdom, or anything... nothing in particular, just some ideas.

Maybe use some verses or scriptures from the book that pertain to your family in general, you or member(s) of your family. also you could list someone or a quote from someone from the bible that links with some important people to you, or even yourself. example: saints, apostles, etc. I think its great your doing something original and deep. I Love tattoos, i think there great. I plan to get 3/4 sleeves on both arms, eventually. I also believe tattoos are really for the person getting the tattoo. not because its cool to someone else or because 'its the thing to do' i hate people who get Chinese letters, dragons, coy fish, (the common stuff) because they look cool and their friend has one. thats such a waste of time and money, and its sad really, because it shows lack of imitation originality, and depth toward the person. get something that expresses you to you and something you'll be proud to show friends and family and explain what is means, what it is, why you got it, and that your gonna love it for a lifetime(thats how long its gonna be there). i must admit though tattoos are very sexy on women. tattoos on a woman always manage to turn my head. epically when they have sleeves or a huge one on there side or mid-section. hope you decide on something great.

You want to be careful with putting words into a tattoo.

Make sure it's a big enough space so that you aren't "cramming" the words into it - there is always the chance that the words may end up looking so that no one can read them.

I always wanted a tattoo with words in it, so I made sure that the font was fairly large and easy to read. It says "Sail on, Silver Girl," and it's on my upper thigh. It is a line from the Simon & Garfunkel song 'Bridge Over Troubled Water,' which was played at my Grandmother's funeral - so I got it because it reminds me of her.

I think the best thing for you to do would be to discuss this with a good tattoo artist. They'll be able to tell you what they think is "too small" for the lettering, and they'll be able to help you decide what would fit inside the scroll.

Overall, I think the tattoo is a good idea! If it's done well, I think it would look great! And don't worry about it not looking "girly." I have 17 tattoos... most of which are skulls. :)

Yeah, awhile back I was trying to feed my craving for quotes, and I found a lovely new idea, which turned into a new fixation..."Quotation tattoos"...a combination of two of my biggest obsessions...
As others have stated there's a whole bunch fo awesome qwuotes in latin, but it doesn't have to be latin, it can be any other language you'd like, for example..some people think french sounds more elegant..and of course whatever you decide on...can be in English, foreign language just provides some mystique, and gives the words secret meaning to you...
My best advice is, don't reference anything too specific, or anything that you possibly might not appreciate in your older age, I.E: "I'm a member of girls gone wild" or "I want to have Brad Pitts baby"

Anyways, go here to get some quotations suggestions, and there's a gallery of quote tattoos, if you want to get an idea for the visuals.

Take some time, find something that you like, and ignore all the people that tell you tattoos are trashy. Mine are beautiful, i love them and even when I'm 80 and the skin starts to sag, I will not have them removed. Your body is your temple and just like stained glass in church, you have every right to decorate it however you want.

Read websites with awesome quotes in latin. It would be a nice balance to the bible words you want to place in there.

a scroll on the rib cage would be painful..................and if it's what you want you shouldn't say "I guess it's what i like"......take your time to look for something that captures everything you want in something that you KNOW you like. check out miamiink.com and they can link you to other tatoo sites so you can see different ideas

Yeah, usually tattoos mean something. Think of something that means a lot to you, and as long as ur happy with it, go with it. But dont rush into it, take ur time! Good luck!

I may be an old fart but when I see a girl with a tatoo I feel sorry for her. I think she must have such low esteem for herself she has to advertise with a tatoo. Do yourself a favor and save your money.
