Sounds like a pulled muscle in your neck. Try some Motrin, and a hot shower, on the side that hurts.

That's true it could be the way you are sleeping. Just to let you know that you don't have to be old to have arthritis it usually comes from an old injury. If you have in fact slept wrong a good hot shower and some ibuprofen should take care of it. Medical Supply Stores sell special pillows which you might also try.

see a doctor, i do not want to scare you, but a friend of mine had a sore neck and after a few months of tests, he has lymph node cancer, bad stuff,do not mess around,if you can,go to the doctor and eliminate anything that could possibly hurt you indefinitely........hope it is just a sore neck..and try the support pillow thing for now....GOOD LUCK.

could just be a crick, or from sleeping wrong like the other poster suggested......but if it's chronic, don't dismiss arthritis simply because you are young - I was diagnosed with arthritis at age 16 after years of having my pain dismissed as 'growing pains' by doctors because of my age

Waddya mean not that old? You have a pulled tendon or muscle. A hot pad works pretty well. Best is a good massage and a trip to the chiropractor. You can massage it yourself; do that often.
