In Acts 28:17 - Pual calls the chief Jews together and they say, "We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against."
(KJV)

If Peter had preached in Rome, why would Paul go there?

Rom 15:20
20 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:

If Peter was in Rome when the Book of Romans was written, why didn't Paul greet Him?

It is not written anywhere in the Bible that Peter was in Rome.
When the claim is made, it should be treated like any other claim. We should look into the New Testament to see if it can be substantiated.

If the New Testament were silent, I would be too. But what we find is proof Peter was not there before 60 A.D. without a doubt.

Paul knew Peter was there, Paul also died in Rome

Peter went to Rome in A.D. 42 and remained there as head of the church till A.D. 66.

It is not absolutely certain if Peter was ever in Rome. Of course, Roman Catholics would insist that Peter was indeed there because of their belief in apostolic succession, and that Peter was the first pope (bishop of Rome).

1 Pet 5:13 She who is in Babylon, a chosen one like [YOU], sends YOU her greetings, and so does Mark my son.

indicates Peter was in Babylon in 62 - 64 CE.

I wouldn't use the King James version, as it was written by someone not versed well in Christian theology...
