I think in the year 10,000 there will still be someone on the street corner with a "The end is near" sign.

I wouldn't think anything. I'd be dead.
And the year 10,000 is a LONG way away. We may be heading there, but we are heading toward any year greater than 2008. We are heading to the year 2,000,000, but that doesn't mean I can make any predictions about something so far in advance.

It is Written.
Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Mat 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

I'm glad I don't have to consider that possibility.
2Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2Peter 3:10 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."
Rev. 3:11 "Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown."
Rev. 22:7 "Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the saying of the prophecy of this book."
Rev. 22:12 "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."
Rev. 22:20 "He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

What loving Kindness on the part of our God JEHOVAH!
There can't be more than three people Left on this earth that hasn't heard of him.
Yet, His patience has waited for them to make their choice.
(Ezekiel 6:10) . . .And they will have to know that I am Jehovah; not in vain did I speak about doing to them this calamitous thing.”’

There's always some nut proclaiming the end of the world is near. If the world ends, it will be because we (mankind) have destroyed it ourselves - which we're stupidly in the process of doing.
