I have been to 26 different countries. Some are very nice and some are not so nice. But boil it all down, I feel that America has the best of the world. We are a nation of immagrants. Which means that the brave had to go halfway around the world to get here with nothing in their pockets and set up a new life. I owe a lot to America, mostly my life. When my Great Grandparents left Russia for America with their little children, the Tsar had given them the choice leave or die. Some of my relatives stayed in Germany rather then continue their journey. They were all killed by Hitler.
My father served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War 2. So did three uncles. Several of my cousins and I served during the Vietnam war. America does not owe my anything, I owe it more than you can realize.

I have freedom and i have rights! i can voice my opinion, yes, I AM ALLOWED TO HAVE AN OPINION AND BE A WOMAN! i was able to choose the man i love and not be told who it would be. i can show my face, hold my head high and be proud of who i am! my children are free to choose. all 3 either got or are getting an awesome education, PUBLIC education, one then choose to join the military, other to go to college, the other has hopes to be a vet ( she can be what she wants, not all countries give women that right!) i can vote, i can carry a weapon if i choose, i can speak my mind w/o being stoned to death in the streets, and my daughter if she gets married doesnt have to worry that her husband can beat or kill her for no reason at all just because. all of this and so much more is possible because I AM AN AMERICAN. all of this is possible and so much more because our military has fought for the rights and freedoms of ALL AMERICANS! these rights are fought for, not God given.
after reading some of the other responses, let me add, yes, i am very fortunate to have been born here, otherwise, i might not have any idea what freedom was all about. i am proud of my family, i was born into as well, anther fortune i was lucky to have.

I've never used the "Proud" moniker because to be proud I would have to accomplish something to be proud of. I was just born here, I had noting to do with that . That said I sure am Glad to be an American. I would like to be none other. I used to enjoy alot of freedom and a decent paycheck. Not so much now, but I am hopeful for the future. I am proud of accomplishments of many of my fellow Americans and I sure am glad I'm here.

I am a proud American because I have listened to the stories my grandparents told me about fleeing Poland and Germany to get here...I am proud of my grandmother for delivering my father in the hospital lobby, 2 months after she got to America, because no one could understand her language. I am proud of what they went through for my dad to be born in a free country....so my children could be born in a free country...so my husband could go to Iraq and make sure that everything my grandparents went through wasn't for nothing. I am the proud grand daughter of immigrants and the VERY proud wife of a "citizen soldier" doing a tour in Iraq. I am proud that I have the right to say what I want and worship how I want and wear what I want and have a gun if I want.

I'm proud to be an American and a Georgian for several related reasons.
1. Our history - Our National, my State and my local history - as well as my own family history - is something I respect greatly. It took and is taking individuals in each American's family in each city and town and in each county in every State to make us who we are today and who we will be tomorrow and for all the tomorrows that our Republic (not democracy!) exists.
2. Our men and women in uniform - say what you will about our government, whichever side of the coin happens to be in power (and I can say a lot about the coin), but the citizens, our ancestors and living family members, who have made up and who now make up our military - whether they be the militias of the past, the U.S. military or the Confederate military during its brief existence, or our modern military, are good people who have done their duty as they've seen it. That deserves to be honored.
3. Our compassion and sense of right as a people - Sometimes it is misguided in my opinion, but we as Americans are, in general, a compassionate people who are willing to help when others need help and who try to do the right thing. That's something to be proud of, I think.

I am proud to be an American because we have consistently volunteered to spill our own blood and spend our own treasure in order to bring freedom to the oppressed.
There has never been a less selfish people in the history of mankind.

As a female I have personal power. I can choose to work and make a lot of money or choose to sit on the sidewalk and do nothing. I can curse the government and any religion without going to jail. I can own a house, car, go to college, even have kids or not. USA does not limit anyone or any group. Only you limit yourself.
