we had a flea outbreak from the previous owner of our apartments cat...at first we washed them and they were fine...fleas all combed out...then i put the spot on so i didnt have to use a flea collar and now i used the zodiac spot on and the cat might have licked a little...she first had lil slobber on her cheak and must have gagged it up...it was on her little lips.....then i rinsed her off.....washed the remaining zodiac off and forced her to drink water....now she is twitching every now and then...but seems fine is playing...keeps going behind the couch..but something just seems weird...my male russian blue we gave the same treatment...but he has just been sleeping...we rinsed it off and he is still sleeping...
any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated
thanks

I'm sorry to hear your kittys are ill from putting flea stuff on them. Sadly what isn't told to people is that these things are pesticides. Which is why they say to make sure to place it between the shoulders of the cat. So they can't lick it.
Well doesn't work well in multi cat house holds. For the simple fact kitties clean each other.
Keep a close eye on your cats. I would say if symptomes don't start going with in the next 12-24 hours, get them to the vet!
Now a better suggestion it's something i use in my home. I have 3 kitties and one we just fostered who was orphaned because the whole family was wiped out at a construction site where my husbans work sends storage boxes. Anyhow when we got the little one ( lucky ) He came in with massive flea infestation. Well first i washed him at least 2 times, I then treated him with citronella essential oil. Just one or two drops and also i soak my adult cat's collors in it diluted in water. Well i haven't seen a flea.
i also treated my house with raid's flea and tick spray. I locked the cats in the bathroom, sprayed the whole appartment, all funature, Everything! and then vaccumed. Sprayed one more time and vaccumed again. Bathed them and let them go.
But it's best to treat a cat's collar as opposed to them.

I would call the vet, especially if this is weird behavior for your cats. Twitching doesn't sound good. Did you use a flea shampoo then put the flea med. on right after? I know that witch my dogs I have to wait a few days to a week in-between because they can get too much of the medicine and it has the potential to be lethal. As far as rinsing it off, it spreads through the oil on the cats body (or at least most flea meds do) so it might have already spread around, but if they had just been bathed it might not have had the chance to. I would try washing the sport with regular cat shampoo (or just some mild detergent shouldn't hurt them this once) If the cat is playing I don't think it is going to be too sick, if even sick at all, but I would still call the vet just to be safe. I know that if I call my vet after hours it transfers me to an emergency vet clinic who've answered my questions before, telling me if I should go in then, in the morning, or if it was nothing. Good luck!

Just keep a close eye and take her to the vets asap if she seems to be getting worse, or develops any new symptoms. You've washed it off of her so hopefully it should be OK.
I advise staying far away from all pet store flea treatments in future, especially Zodiac, Hartz and Biospot. Pet stores are not licensed to sell the modern drugs that are both safe and effective for flea control, so their stuff contains some very dodgy chemicals indeed, which frequently cause seizures and death in animals - often without even killing the fleas!
Flea collars are very ineffective, there's no reason to be using them at all - and no reason to be bathing to get rid of fleas. Please get your flea treatments from vets in future i.e Frontline, Revolution, Advantage or Advocate. These are safe and very effective, and you will not need to use anything else on the animal. You also must wait 48 hours after bathing the cat before applying any spot-on or it can't spread through the skin properly - possibly if the cat had not been bathed before applying the Zodiac, her reaction could have been worse!

I would call your vet Zodiac isn't necessarily a high quality spot-on and many cats have reactions to spot-ons that aren't frontline or advantix. In many case they develop seizures. SO I would call your vet or nearest emergency vet immediately. It doesn't happent o all cats some are affected some are not. And you may not have gotten all of it off bcz SPot-On is usually a little bit water proof. But I would watch her if your wanting to wait and if you notice any more twitching or dilation of the eyes call your vet.

This is a sign that your cat is allergic to it or you gave them the wrong dosage. Immediately take your cat to the vet. I have seen instances where this has killed. You might think that your kitten is fine now, but things can be deceiving even when it comes to health and medicine.

If they lick it they drool a bit (its happnened to my cat before), thats why i always try and get it on the back of theri neck so they can't reach it. But maybe your cat had got a little bit more than a lick and is having a reaction to it?
Its always better to be safe than sorry - Maybe you should take her to the vet.
Hope she is ok!

if you bought it from a store and not a vet, take the cat to the vet IMMIEDIATLY.
the store brand stuff isnt the same as advantage of frontline, those kill only fleas
store bought stuff is a low dosage of poison that can KILL your cat if it has a low immune system.
Lots of animals die this way!
