It's better to think of it as love, freely given. When my children were little and I left them for a short time, they lit up when I entered the room. They knew how much I loved them. They loved my attention, my praise, my service to them. It was a sincere response, and it thrilled me to see them, also. Even now when they are adults, the warmth of their smile is such a treat to me.

I heard it said when I became a Christian that God inhabits the praises of his children. I think it is much like what I have experienced with mine. I can only imagine what He is like since I can just see his creation and not his face right now. But I am awestruck when I view his works, whether I'm looking under a microscope or gazing out the window of an airplane. I am continuously reminded of him and sense he is present with me, though there is no evidence - only my faith. I guess this is worship. Jesus said true worshippers worship the Father in spirit and in truth. This kind of worship has a powerful affect on my beliefs and my actions. It keeps my heart tender toward others, even those who are full of criticism and sarcasm. It makes me persevere when the going gets tough, and it keeps my hopes high, because someday, I shall see him face to face and he will be more wonderful than I can imagine. He has definitely impressed me!

God does not need worshippers. God is perfect and therefore there is nothing that He needs, including worship of His creations. In truth, it is the worshippers who need God, not the other way around. We have to remember that God is the one that made us, and therefore He is the One who knows what is best for us. Worshipping God means acknowledging His place in our life as the Creator and as God. If one does not acknowledge God's place in his life, then that person will live in separation from what is best for him.

There is only one reason for creation out of love, and to be worshipped is not that reason.

If it was a matter of "need," He would have robotically programmed each one of us to worship Him. Instead, He gave us a choice... it's up to you :)
