would someone ever need/go thru chemo if they had stage 1 cervical cancer?

The definition for Stage I cervical cancer is -

Stage I Cervical cancer is that the Cancer that has spread into the connective tissue of the cervix but is confined to the uterus.

But generally the cervical cancer does not show up in the stage I level and beyond 2 B stage only most of the time it shows up.

What ever the stage of the disease be Surgery, Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy are absolutely required so that all the cancerous cells are destroyed and the disease does not spread further and get controlled. Your oncologist would have told you all the above treatment plant and I suggest you to have it accordingly as finding the disease in the early stage and treating is easier. Best of luck-

There are different stages in cancer. You have 1a, 1b, 1c. It all depends on what they find in your tests. Some ladies have to go through chemo depending on where the cancer is found in the uterus. I'm currently going through 1c ovarian cancer, and yes it was a tumor cancer so yes to 'UP' my chances at no reoccurances for 5 years or more I AM taking Chemo, but again... different cancer and different location... it depends on what your Dr. finds with you or "someone" in this situation.

Depends on what the Dr reccomended, but if it was localized to the cervix and they removed all of the cancerous tissue and there is little chance of it spreading or returning, probably not gonna put them through chemo.

No- I had chryo- surgery for stage 2-3 I think ! No chemo

I had what I believe was stage one, my Dr. called it Moderate/Severe Displasia (not sure of spelling).

Anyway, they did laser surgury, no chemo...
