What is the worst thing that can happen if I ask out a friend and she says no?

The worst possible scenario would be for you to become so focused on that rejection that you become bitter and it damages your friendship. But since you're already close friends that possibility is remote because you already have a good idea how she'll react to your invitation. So, ask away; good luck!

You answered your own question. the worst she can do is say no.
It won't ruin the friendship or anything (unless of course you get all obsessive and over analyze the whole thing)
Grow a pair and do it, if she says no, just brush it off and go on about your business

well the only bad thing that ever comes out of that situation is your reaction to rejection
if youre really sensitive, you could get depressed
some of my friends have commited suicide over a girl
theres no reason to give up life like that
there are other girls that are pretty, gorgeous, beautiful
and they are also fun.talented.nice.outgoing.sweet
so watch how u react
thats really the only thing that can go wrong

Uh, you could remain friends and never become lovers just to hate each other when you break up...
Ask her out anyway. You'll always wonder, what if. She might even want to go out with you.

That she says no. What, are you thinking she'll say she hates your guts? If you ask nicely, then 'no' is the worst you'll get.

She says no.....but you may feel weird being around her again for awile....but honestly...dont let that effect your friendship....besides....if she says yes your friendship will only get stronger....dont be so negative....she hasnt said no yet....plus you have to remember that there is a huge ocean...and plenty of fish in it

your face will spontaneously burst into flames and you will be horribly deformed for the rest of ur life. either that or she says no and you get over it in about a week.
