Not one. The last one was Iraq. Note the word was. After Saddam ran into his hole and until we turned the country over to its own government, it was occupied. After that we haven't occupied a nation.

I hate the word "occupy". I've answered this question several other times and its just a big pet-peeve of mine.
In terms of international law a country is only "occupied" against its will and after military conflict. In that respect, America only "occupies" Iraq and Afghanistan; unless of course you wanted to count Germany, Italy, and Japan among those nations being defeated in World War Two.
America has basing rights in more than one hundred fifty countries that span the entire world. These basing rights are given to the United States for several reasons; sometimes economic incentives, other times its mutually beneficial as in the case of Japan and South Korea who are protected by our bases against North Korea, but it also serves to give America critical strategic leverage in the Korean peninsula.

hi C Pine, answer: NONE. the U. S. does not "occupy" any united states of america. those worldwide places that we are at present deployed to are with the permission of the host governments. yet, we don't occupy any united states of america. Following WWII we did occupy, Germany, Japan, and Okinawa. a rustic can occupy yet another united states of america whilst they beat them in conflict and take over their government with a militia governorship. maximum suitable needs, Larry Smith Senior grasp Sergeant, USAF (Ret.) First Sergeant

None. When the military occupies a country, it controls the laws by establishing and enforcing them, such as Germany and Japan after WWII. While the US has bases and troops in many countries, they do not "occupy" that country.

Once the Iraqi Governemtn was created our presence ceased to be an occupation.
The U.S. miliatry is the invited guest of over 100 countries, where we training, assist and help professionally develop the military of those countries' armed forces.
As Colin powell said, "Over the years the US has sent many of its great young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for is enough to bury those that did not return."

Too many. The US' greatest export is violence. The US thinks it runs the world but is increasingly seen as a violent out of control regime that will kill civilians to get what it wants. I wish the US bases in my country were shut down.

You could almost say they "occupy" Iraq, but in theory, Iraq has it's own government.
