Why would you use this on a children's private area?

Question

I have memories of my mother putting petroleum jelly on my two sisters and my vaginal area because we claimed we were hurting down there. Is this common? Do any parent out there know why this was done? I thinks its weird all three of us were hurting we were probably around 3-8 years old.

I ask because later in my teens i found child porn on my dads computer and than that memory came to mind recently and is making me think the worse. Help!

No there is no reason for that what so ever. I know this because what you are thinking happened to me when I was a child. Sometimes it takes a while for you to remember and sometimes another incident will bring it out. If you want to try and recall stuff go see a woman therapist they can probably help you to recall what you might have blocked out from that age. Then the night mares will begin when evcer comes out and you will remember one day it will come strolling back into your life. Your sisters might already remember but might be embarresed to admit. it is hard to put it out there. There are many places you can work through this once you release it in your mind. I understand that this must make you feel sensitive, especially because of what you found on your dad's computer.

Often parents put baby powder or petroleum jelly on little girls vaginal areas if they are very dry. My parents did this for me because my skin used to chap down there. (when little girls are young there is sometimes no lubrication as there is once puberty starts and this can allow the area to get dry.) If that is the reason for it, there is nothing wrong.

It worries me that you were hurting down there, though, especially in light of what you think yourself. I know what you are thinking, and it is horrible. But people don't make that sort of thing up.

What concerns me is that this memory was triggered by your finding child pornography on your father's computer. I imagine that this is what concerns you too.

I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and I know that it can be repressed. Please go to counselling or join a group if you feel like this may have happened to you.

No most parents use that stuff on childrens private areas. As long as it wasn't done with all of you watching or they got really exictied about it. However, if you still in your heart believe it was a sexual kind of thing, join a support group.

I was going tosay don't think the worst as this is what they used for nappy rash back them. But the fact you found child porn on your dads computer should set off HUGE warning bells

Sounds like you need to have a talk with your sisters. If they are older, they should remember more than you about that time.

If they have a rash from urinating on themselves this helps it heal and also takes a lot of the pain out.

i don't see why it would be used for a child that age. maybe as a barrier cream when wearing a diaper. i'm so sorry...

Nearly all men watch porn. It doesn't mean they are pedophiles. Was it a porn with kids? THat would of course change your situation, but if it was a normal, adult porn, it has nothing to do with you.

my mom used to do that for me, i dont remember what i use to complain of though .. lol
