Because I am athesist and I personally do not like being, "Under God We Stand". I mean seriously, what if you don't believe in God? I thought school and religon aren't supposd to mix. My friend and I both don't say that part but we still think it should change. Because would't that be like religous discrimination or something?

Comment are welcome.
(so are debates...)

You don't sing it, you say it. No you don't have to. My daughter didn't. It is your right, however be prepared for the sh!tstorm you will incur from the religio fanatics at your school.

1. It is not a song.
2. Refuse to say it because of Religious reasons if it bothers you so badly.
3. Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance daily seemed a little too much like cult indoctrination to me in high school, so I would never recite it.

first off you can't SING the pledge of alliegiance..it's a pledge not a song [duh]..and it's "one nation under God"..how old are you? cuz you should know that. most schools stopped saying the pledge of alliegiance because some people don't believe in God , and because foreign kids often believe in different gods or superior beings. do you still have to say it at your school?? cuz if you do that's weird

I'm a pagan and when they used to make us do it in school, I wouldn't. I refused. I also refused to do the whole pledge because that whole pledging your allegiance to America thing is just BS honestly. Children don't know what it means until later. Why were we even forced to recite a serious pledge that can later be used against if the government finds us treasonous in some way?

Under most state laws, public schools are required to make it avaliable to students. However, you are in no way obligated to say parts or the entire Pledge. If your teachers make you recite it, this is an infraction of your civil liberties. But, even if you don't say it, it's common courtesy to remain quiet to respect it.

It depends on your school and your parents. If your parents are behind you on this, have a meeting with the principal. You won't change the pledge but at least you won't have to say it.

You're not required to say it. I never did, I disagree with pledging my allegiance to anything. The "under god" part is retarded, but it's not nearly as bad as the pledge itself.

I never had to sing it, no. We had to say it in school, but I'm not much of a morning person, so I just mumbled and slurred every word except "indivisible".

No, but you do have to spell it correctly.

Nobody has to sing the Pledge. It's recited, not sung.

If you don't want to recite the Pledge, you don't have to -- I just don't like it when some atheist activist tries to squelch everyone else's right to say it.
