Maya is mostly misunderstood by us... it is the illusionary power of god, but anybody rejecting her as "Maya" reached no where.

It is the power of Shakti to keep shiva busy in world as Jiva...

Anyone who seeks enlightenment has to first understand Maya, its roles, its powers.... accept her as Mother and then she will take the sadhka to the highest esteems.

Only Tantra philosophy accepted Maya well and even now tantra meditation work faster than any other techniques

Maya equals the Black Hole present in the Milky Way. It devours everything which comes in its way. It is all the illusion, all the delusion which can make a man become astray and divert him from the true aim of life. Maya, if made the right use of, can be taken advantage of, and to the benefit of mankind as a whole. But, unfortunately, people are only using it in a bad way and doing loads of rash things.

MAYA is an illusory world, feeding the five senses with an overload of sensations. Man lives a life of self gratification, endlessly chasing dreams, till he realizes the futility of it all, as all ambition, need, greed, comes to an end...death defeats all worldly desires. this is maya....as a person progresses spiritually, the realisation comes to the uplifted soul to look for answers beyond the material, within, not without, beyond the pale of death. thus maya is an essential proving point experience in self realisation

Maya's translated meaning means illusion. Some said confusion. But the literal meaning is neither confusion nor illusion.

Maya means 'beyond our imagination'. It's a plane of state that we can't understand. Remember Einstein's theory of relativity and frames of references? Maya is a frame of reference for God. We will have no idea about how the things would be in that reference. To explain, imagine you are going in a train. Train is a 'moving frame of reference'. When we sit in the train, we see that the outside is traveling in opposite direction while it is stationary in fact. However, we can easily say that the outside is actually stationary because we were also in that frame of reference before looking at the train , the moving frame of reference.

Just like Einstein created frames of references to explain his relativity theory, saints in India created 'Maya' to explain the existence of God. They say, it's due to this Maya, we continue to stay in ignorance. We try to analyze everything based on our 'mortal' frame of reference, hence end up finding no answers for quite a few questions. The difference between the example above and Maya is that, we experienced both frames of references of 'moving train' and 'stationary surroundings'. But we never experienced the "Maya frame of reference", so we wouldn't know how that would be.

Hindu Monks wrote that there are ways to reach Maya. Few Yoga and meditations can take us into that frame of reference, they say. For ex., there is a Yogasana called "Kundalini". I personally experienced it myself and got into a place that was strange to me.

I could probably call it a God's plane, if I believe in God. I see it as the mere illusion created by my mind.

The day a person can realize the truth behind the illusion (Maya) a person can realize his true self. But to understand the truth behind the illusion (Maya) is the greatest impediment in man's path to self realization.

Maya is 2 edged sword. u can use it for liberation or for damnation.
Example-- A cat kill s a mouse and even plays with it before killing it. The same cat carries her kittens to safety in the mouth. Morale-- become a mouse ie sucuum to Maya and get killed. Do not give in to Maya and get rescued by a
loving mother.

well, i am a follower of BAPS. in our organization, we are told or learn that maya is the bad attachments that we or humans have with the world. such as television, parties, cars, ipods, or anything in the world that would attract a human towards it including a person. we learn that maya is something that would destroy a person in every and single way. there is no way we could have atma-realization if we are still attached to maya. in my opinion i think that there is no form of maya that can get us to realize who we really are. we are just souls wandering around trying to get to god's home and basically getting moksh. if we really want to realize ourselves then we have to try to convince our mind and our heart. the heart might be easy to convince but not the mind, becaz that;s where we start our attachment towards maya. we have to tell or play with our mind and tell or control it and tell our mind that i am atma(soul), i am brahm(don't know what word to use in english), and i am akshar(above all), i am not this deh(body) if u repeat this every morning u might realize who u are. i know this is long and maybe boring. sorry just wanted to help. i still have alot, but it might not even fit on this page. so my email add is agp1001@yahoo.com if u want to know more. thanks

Maya is the delusion that keeps us from realizing our true nature, that of Paraprahman.

maya is a metaphor for confusion, clearing of which leads you to self-realization: there is no god, no devil, no such rubbish. it is you and the world and you bear responsibility for it.
