One way or another? How does doing that make any sense at all?

It doesn't make sense. Unless the person really does care but can't admit that they do.

Because some of those others are trying to get those unsubstantiated beliefs included in our laws and school science classes.

It doesn't. Atheists are fundamentally negative since their entire creed is based not on what they believe - dinosaur bones,as near as I can gather - as on what they do not believe (freedom of worship).

For conversation, for something to do because they want attention and they will get it no matter what.
